I have really been on a sci-fi romance kick lately so I was looking forward to this story. It had it’s good points and bad points, While it was enjoyable, it wasn’t perfect.

The bad is that it was a cliché stereotype of sci-fi romance that did not bring anything new to the table. I felt that the reader was thrown into the story with no prior knowledge of the world building, leaving the reader lost and frustrated. I felt the descriptions we were given weren’t relevant. I also loathe the idea of alpha males and their “fated mates.” I feel most authors use it as an excuse to force two characters together so that the eventually can stand each other.

The good is that there are strong female leads and, despite not having much background given, the worlds were pretty interesting.

SCORCHED BY DARKNESSEternal Mates series and what a joy it was to get back into this series, having missed the last couple of stories.

Hartt and Mackenzie are both assassins, both charged with killing the same mark, the King of Death himself. They start off as just two rival assassins, but things quickly change when they realise they are fated mates. Neither of them wants to be with someone just because Fate said so though, so Hartt goes above and beyond to prove he loves her. Plus, he does have some grovelling to do because of Iolanthe!

This was a brilliantly paced story, with plenty of intrigue to move the story along, plus steamy times. I loved seeing couples I have met before, and how their personalities change and yet remain the same. Read it, you'll understand what I mean!

I also loved the hints about Syn. I really can't wait to learn her story. I am wondering if she'll be the next story, but either way, I can't wait for this to continue. A brilliant addition to the series, and definitely recommended by me.

MAGIC, DEMONS AND THE HUNTER is part of the Enchanted Ink multi-author series and features Eliphas and Pierre, who we met in A SCENT LIKE NO OTHER, in the FATED MATES ANTHOLOGY.

This time, Mondo is also around. He is the third part of their triad, and the one Pierre and Eli thought was dead. He is very much alive but missing a chunk of memories, including those that would have sent him to Pierre and Eli.

While I love the coven and the triad in particular, I would have preferred to know more about their world and the demons they face. As it is part of a series, I did feel as though I'd missed out on some world-building by not having read book one yet.

The overall arc isn't over by a long shot and I look forward to reading more in this series and seeing other characters find their mates. I just hope I see more of Mondo, Pierre, and Eli, as they are fantastic characters that made me smile.

Hot, dangerous, flirtatious, honesty - it's all here and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Definitely recommended by me.
