I really enjoyed some of these stories. Even though I don't normally enjoy reading satire that much, some of these stories were really interesting. My favorite story was the novella "Bounty." The idea behind the story was cool in the fact that there were "freaks" and "normals" in conflict with each other was reminiscent of other, more recent stories I have read. I loved how there were supernaturalish aspects to each of the stories was pretty cool too! I would recommend this to people who don't always like reading satire, but want to get into it at some point. Overall, it was an interesting read.

I remember reading this book when I was a kid in elementary school, found it in my local used book shop, and had to pick it up. Not going to lie, I used to be terrified of these books, but I still read them because I secretly loved being scared. Rereading it, it was a fun book with so many Poe allusions (which were amazing since he is my favorite Poe-t, lol). I can say for a fact I liked these books much more when I was a child, but it was still fun to revisit my childhood books. So, yeah, nostalgic read number three of the year.

Fast Paced
Fast paced read that draws the reader into the story
This was an enjoyable read that was incredibly fast paced. I was excited to see some of my favorite characters from previous King books make small cameo appearances and one played a starring role. If you haven't read through Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, and End of Watch yet, I highly recommend you do so before starting in on this one.

As with King's best work this starts out with the horrors that humans do to each other and then quickly delves into the supernatural. I went through this one quickly and it was quite a fun listen.

Great Game
This is one of my favorite games. It's so addictive. The choices that you make really affect the story so you can play through the same story multiple times and still enjoy it. They have a pretty good variety of stories now and they update a lot of them pretty regularly. One of the things I really love is they have really diverse characters and some really immersive stories. You can earn diamonds for the diamond choices, and you get passes fairly often. 10/10 highly recommend this game.

Food Network Star
Food Network Star
2005 | Documentary
One of my favorite shows!
I love cooking competition shows and one of my favorites is Food Network Star. Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis guide contestants interested in their own show on Food Network through a series of grueling cooking challenges designed to test their cooking chops, food knowledge and on-screen personality.

The challenges separate the good from the not so good until the top 3 get to make actual pilot shows for the network. The winning contestant then receives their own show, becomes a member of the Food Network family and frequently appears as a judge on other shows.

This book was phenomenal. I listened to it through an audio version and would highly recommend doing so. When this was recommended to me by a friend I skeptically gave it a try and it has turned out to be one of my favorite books of this year.

This book takes you through a journey of discovering quite a bit about human-kind and our nuances to be awful to each other. This can be extremely humorous or extremely sad depending on the circumstances. There are also parts of this that will push your boundaries of what you find to be morally or ethically acceptable.

Dune (1984)
Dune (1984)
1984 | Sci-Fi
You know, there’s a lot to criticize about this interpretation of Dune, but it had such a huge impact on my young mind that it will always be a favorite.

As an avid reader, I’m often looking for movie interpretations to be faithful, more than anything else. This film adaptation really can’t be called faithful in any sense of the word, but it gave me an appreciation for artistic license that isn’t just laziness in disguise or pandering to the mindless masses of movie-goers. It’s just a great story, in its own right, even if it really only pays lip service to the source material.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really cute book but it felt like it was missing something. The pictures were very solid and adorable. Guinnevere Shuster definitely has a talent for photography. My main issue with this book was the writing. The descriptions were all over the place and I wasn't too impressed. Some of the descriptions were in past tense and some in present.

I loved the photos but the text was not my favorite.

Ultimately, if you want a book that is full of completely adorable dogs, this is the book for you!

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say, this final book of the Wolfpack Trilogy really wasn't my style. I enjoyed the story and the plot but I just got disgusted with the sex scenes. Honestly, whenever the sex scenes started my face would just get a permanent "ew" look. <spoiler> Beastiality, knotting, and almost wolf rape etc... </spoiler>

I really did like the premise of the book. The plot was semi unique and there were some things in the book that I wasn't able to predict which was refreshing.

Ultimately, the series was interesting but definitely not my favorite.

I really enjoyed this book. It combines two of my favorite things. Mozart and Vampires. It was a different read for me and I enjoyed the different representation of vampires. It was not all seduction or all blood. I think the one thing that made this book fascinating to me is that I was very fortunate to see Don Giovanni performed and that helped me understand the book more and relate the book to the play. This was a good read that combines opera, vampires, and surviving life.

I would definitely recommend this book to individuals who enjoy opera (especially Don Giovanni) and vampires.
