I LOVED this book! My favorite aspects of women's fiction are all here: NYC, fashion, friendship, art, glitz and glamour, food, humor...all combined with a bit of a mystery and a writing style that brings you right in and doesn't let you go. I didn't want this book to end. I was honestly quite surprised at how well written it was, I was expecting fluff considering the author is a former Real Housewife of New York but there were several times this book forced some deep thinking and had me pondering on love vs desire and choices we make. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. Highly recommended! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC

I love Daryl Wood Gerber's cozy mysteries, and was both curious and excited to get my hands on this, her first novel in the suspense genre. I was not disappointed!

At first glance, it appears to be a standard setup - woman found with her dead husband and accused of murder - but it quickly takes off in its own direction and never stops. Once Chessa decides that she is going to have to find the truth on her own and takes off running, the suspense doesn't stop. She doesn't know what is going on or who she can trust, and seems to encounter more questions than answers in her search for the truth. I was completely sucked in and had a hard time putting the book down.

Chessa is my favorite type of female heroine - strong and smart, but not perfect by any means. She's just too stubborn to give up.

I really enjoyed this new venture from a favorite author, and hope there will be more to come!

NOTE: I received a free advanced copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Originally, I wasn't ever going to complete this series. The first book was good, until my favorite character bit the dust. HOWEVER, I'm glad I did decide to read these because, well, the character comes back in an intriguing way.
There was much more action in this volume, and I was entertained the entire time. I was kind of sad when it ended so suddenly. I was glad that the author stuck with the epistolary style. I didn't mind the cliffhanger, since I've already got the third book from the library.

'I’ll admit it. I’m biased. Brandon’s been my favorite author for more than 10 years now, so I was already really excited about this game before it even came out. But if I’m being completely objective, I still would have to say that I really enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to playing it many more times in the future. Even though the box is enormous, it’s earned its spot on my shelf. To put it simply, it’s a great game.'

This book was one of my anticipated releases. I'm so glad I got to read it this year! It isn't one of my FAVORITE books but I did enjoy it and I decided to read more by this author like her other release From Twinkle, With Love which I also enjoyed. I really loved the format of that book. I admit by the end of the book most of the characters were getting on my nerves but by the end there was major character development so it was okay!
