Dean (6927 KP) rated Black and Blue (2019) in Movies
Jan 25, 2021
Decent crime thriller
One of the films I missed as it didn't get a long release at the cinema in the UK. Naomie Harris plays a rookie cop in a rundown area of New Orleans. With corrupt cops and gangs working together in the supply of drugs. Soon she is hunted by both through the neighborhood after capturing a murder by the corrupt cops on her bodycam.
Overall it was an enjoyable watch, a little slow at the start and middle section. It had quite a low budget feel to it despite some big cast names. Worth a watch but far from the better films with a similar plotline. @21 Bridges (2019) is one example that had more action.

Russ Troutt (291 KP) rated Toy Story 4 (2019) in Movies
Jun 28, 2019
Toy Story 4 was good, I enjoyed it, but didn't really seem necessary(other than to make money and can't fault them for that, it is business). Toy Story 3 was a proper ending in my opinion and if my heart had a pull string it ripped it hard, but for me Toy Story 4 just didn't capture the emotion like the last three did, nor did it really feel like a kids movie. Some of the scenes in the antique store are legitimately creepy and startling. Now that I think about it though, those scenes in the original with Sid were pretty dang creepy too. Any adult who enjoys the Toy Story franchise will enjoy this one I think, but I'm not sure how it'll be received by kids.

CHILLFILTR (46 KP) rated Dancing by Slow Skies in Music
Jul 11, 2019
It works as an invitation, to both understand and let go of the need for understanding. We leave our bodies be the moment, our feelings to be the logic. We move in perfect consciousness. But perhaps we are not all of us looking at the sky.
“You will see people
Who don’t even think of
The way their bodies shape themselves”
— Slow Skies
Karen Sheridan, known in Dublin and increasingly around the world as Slow Skies, invites us all to take a minute and breathe. With her single Dancing, in a voice that for a moment reimagines Nora Jones, Sheridan asks the listener to 'to think about whatever it is that makes them feel good'. We like the lazy guitar strumming, the ice-cream-soft voice, and the variated Hey Mickey drum beat.

Awix (3310 KP) rated The Mummy's Shroud (1967) in Movies
May 28, 2020
Third-division Hammer horror - the one with 'Beware the beat of the cloth-wrapped feet' as its advertising slogan, which may be the most memorable thing about it. Has pretty much the same plot as all of these movies (expedition, tomb, curse, murders) with the marginal addition of a rich businessman running everything just asking for a comeuppance.
Some decent direction, an unusually good role for perennial Hammer supporting actor Michael Ripper, and some inventive set pieces, but the general lack of imagination and new ideas means the whole thing drags. None of Hammer's A-team are involved (with the possible exception of Ripper) and you do feel the film is desperately lacking a big star or a genuinely new idea. Sort of passes the time agreeably but probably one for Hammer completists only.

Mothergamer (1574 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Shadow Of The Tomb Raider in Video Games
May 31, 2020
Honestly, I feel like this was my favorite game in the trilogy. I liked seeing a darker side to Lara and her coming to terms with a lot of her actions having consequences. I loved exploring the Amazon and seeing where the story took me. The optional tombs were interesting and the platforming felt like it had better controls here. It sounds silly, but I did like that I got to pat all the llamas in one area. I had a good time with the game because of the story, characters, and gameplay. I know there are comparisons to Uncharted which I have also played, but I like them both for different reasons.
