I've been wanting to see this for ages, as I had the book as a teenager and loved the prospect of it.
All in all I thought it was a very good film, good acting from the two young leads. And the film does follow the book to a T.
I'm probably glad I didn't see it at cinema however as I don't think I would have paid they're prices and been happy with it. But a good film to watch in the comfort of your own house. My only issue was that to me Hugo Weavings acting felt quite forced, it didn't feel right to me and they could perhaps have cast someone different in his role.
I will be watching it again though. And am a bit upset there isn't a sequel lined up.

The reviews sounded promising and I do enjoy a good haunted house yarn. What starts as a ghost story veers towards the running of an illegal brothel by two sick low-lifes. When a cash-strapped girl moves in she finds that, not only is there strange things that go bump in the night, but these two landlords are extremely dangerous. Could the hauntings and these men be linked?
A compelling read at times but certainly not scary. Or at least to me. Well written with a couple of amusing surreal moments but it was difficult to feel much for our leading lady. She really does make some questionable decisions. Also, it is a book of two halves. The second half (3 Years Later) is enjoyable enough but possibly unnecessary/unneeded?
Overall a very good read but not one I would feel the urge to read again.

I loved the 'detatched' way in which the author writes his characters. The lead seems naive and perhaps emotionally shut down. I found the plot really unusual and the way in which owen and his farther are treated made me angry. But a book that can make you feel things about a character must surely be a good book in my opinion!

Limps along slowly
Oh dear, the description I read about this film stated it was about an "intense love affair". Sounded like it would be pretty good but sadly it wasn't. I was bored within ten minutes but hoped it would uptempo as it got going. It didn't. The film dragged along, i didn't feel any chemistry between the two leads and did not believe in their relationship.

Touchdown
A great heartfelt feel-good film based on a true story. Great performances from the lead character and Sandra Bullock adds a touch of charm to her role. Plenty of fun light-hearted moments along the way. A story that will keep your interest to the very end. Nice touch to see the photos of the real people the story is about at the credits!

Surreal film
A very well made film with a good cast. An actor from a big TV show is now a struggling Theatre director who longs for his former glory days. It has some long unedited scenes which almost make it feel like watching a stage show. It uses some other clever camera tricks. The film is quite strange and might be a bit marmite because of it.

It was a good book and I’m sure the sequel will be even better but I feel like there could have been more depth to it. I don’t know, I just think there was something missing. When it ended I felt it was a bit meh. I’ll read the next one because I dislike leaving it on a cliff hanger but I hope there’s a lot more to it.

A friends who are in love with each other but deny it book. As with books like this there is a feel good ending that makes you smile. The plot is fluffy and well known but it doesn't matter. The characters are perfect for each other and you can't wait for the happily ever after.
A perfect read for a anyone who wants something cute, happy, and just plain adorable.

I really enjoyed this one also.. but it is book 3 and I feel the same way as 3.5. I have missed some stuff. Cliffhanger ending but that's ok. I don't mind those except when I haven't read the others first and have to review a book lol. The writing was awesome, characters amazing and the plot was very good. I am glad I got to review this

It's very tough to keep the audience interested in a film set in a wooden box for 90mins. However this film does keep you wondering, it has tension and makes you feel you are in that box as well. It's as good as it can be really, and shows Ryan Reynolds is an underrated actor. He can do much more than goofy comedies or the usual action flick.
