𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘀𝘒𝘭𝘺𝘱𝘡𝘰. Visciously non-entertaining and laborious. There needs to be some honorary award granted to anyone who can finish this shit without turning it off, seriously. Super dodgy CGI aside, how can a film with such stunning locales and costumes still look like total shit until the last act? The video quality at times resembles a pirated DVD rip. Besides that, vigorously rote - another utterly faceless underdog story about destiny or heroism or selflessness or whatever, who cares? There's a scene early on where the characters are fighting some uglyass dinosaurs in cartoonish-looking tall grass (by the way, the ONLY time dinosaurs are used in this B.C. ACTION MOVIE) which is one of the worst looking things ever spat onto a screen. He at least tries here but I can't believe there was ever a time where Steven Strait was eyed as lead material. Among the most palled ways you could have excecuted this, Emmerich is in full π˜”π˜ͺπ˜₯𝘸𝘒𝘺 mode here: an out-and-out non-movie peddled off as entertainment through bloat and blind, unremarkable action. Watchable for maybe 15 minutes but bland in the extreme. Lest we even mention how it breaks up its subtitle lines into like 4 syllables a piece before switching because it assumes whoever is watching this must be an idiot.

VFW feels like Hobo With a Shotgun mashed together with From Dusk Till Dawn, with a sprinkling of Mandy for good measure, all whilst accompanied by an atmospheric synthwave score. What's not to love?

Truthfully, it brings nothing new to the table. What we see in VFW has been done before, and Joe Begos just wallows in that fact. It's a good time.
It has a distinctive grindhouse feel to it throughout, it has a semi Terminator style 80s feel to it throughout, but still manages to carve out its own identity.

The cast are great - Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, Martin , David Patrick Kelly - all actors that I thoroughly enjoy, here playing war veterans fighting back against a gang of leather clad drug addicts laying siege to their bar. It's a simple premise, mixed with a 90 minute runtime, ensuring that VFW packs a hyper violent punch.
When I say violent, I mean violent. It's gory as all hell and doesn't shy away from what it shows. It doesn't feel too over the top as the film is so fast paced, you hardly have time to process what just happened before something else ridiculous happens.

VFW is certainly not for everyone, but I found it to be an over the top and stylish horror gem. Check it out!

Amazing
Absolute brilliant T.V program!!

This old fashioned Netflix original couldn't be more perfect showing every ounce of natural everyday life and problems and how life was for everyone with a secret or goals that were frowned apon.

This starts out following a man and his wife after the war and he is home she falls pregnant but with him not working they are desperate for money and his acting career is yet to start. He manages to get a job at a gas station where he takes his customers to 'dreamland' the program is very cleaver how it introduces the rest of the cast. With people being gay and black it's a struggle for people trying to make it in the big city! It does focus in the gay side quite a bit and gets every side of how life was with the secret parties and how people snuck around. With everyone's dreams coming true they all battle with the real world to get a movie released with a black gay writer and main actress also being black they have alot of people fighting to stop that happening. Brilliant show on how hard it was for people back in the day, very good acting! This is a must see for people who are into a bit of romance and drama!
