A decent follow up to the first film, with the young Mexican snapped up by Real Madrid in the January transfer window to help their champions league campaign. Again this has plenty of guest stars playing themselves and the football games and scenes are very well done. Plot wise the new kid on the block has to cope with fame and fortune, the press, living abroad with his wife back in Newcastle and finding his mother. Not as deep story wise as the first, you do need to watch that first really and I wasn't happy with the quick ending waiting for the third installment, but this is about as good a film about football as can be made. Next up Goal 3 at the World cup!!

Rolling Stone's 390th greatest album of all time (449th in the 2020 list)
Great album by the White Stripes, featuring the anthemic Seven Nation Army (used as many football / leftist politician chants), and the excellent Hardest Button to Button and Girl You Have No Faith In Medicine. The rest of the album is pretty decent too.

Early Man is from Aardman Animation, the team behind Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Chicken Run. Following the devastation caused by a large meteor hitting the Earth many generations ago, a stone age tribe now lives in the lush forest within the crater it left behind. Fairly primitive, and fairly stupid, they hunt rabbits for food and don't really venture outside of the crater into the volcanic wastelands that surround them. But when a more advanced civilisation of bronze age people come along and take over the crater in order to start mining more bronze, the stone age gang find themselves forced out of their home and into the wastelands. One of the stone age men, Dug, follows the bronze age men back to their city and into their football stadium, where thousands gather to watch football. He decides to challenge the bronze age team to a football match, with the winner getting to keep the valley that they call home. Turns out that the stone age tribe invented football many generations ago, and now need to reawaken their passion for the game, and somehow get themselves match ready in time for the match.

As always with Aardman and Nick Park, the stop-motion animation and the attention to detail are top notch. There are some funny moments, but it's nowhere near the standard of some of the previous Aardman productions. It boasts a great line up for the character voices too - Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston, Maisie Williams and more - only it's not enough to lift this beyond being a fairly below average family movie, which is a real shame.

The truth
The game overall is okay, dont get me wrong I did love it and will be buying fifa 18 as always though we expect the next fifa to be better than the previous but all we are really getting is some updated teams and graphics really, with the exception of "the journey" which for me was lacking something.

Deep and touching
Remember the titans is a very deep, moving film about one towns love of football while coming to terms with the difficulties of integration in 70s America, the film doesn't shy too far away from this.
The efforts of the coaches to pull the whole team together are deeply felt and uplifting.
Movies like this show that love can trump hate.

Rolling Stone's 280th greatest album of all time
If you were alive in 2000 you couldn't avoid the singles from this album - Beautiful Day, Elevation and Stuck in a Moment. Similarly, if you ever watch a British football highlights programme there is a 76% chance you will hear one of these three during the programme. Other than the singles, the rest is very forgettable and typical U2.

Everyone has events that they can use to track life's milestones. In his novel [First Plane Home] [Jon Tait] tells the life of Andy through Scotland's World Cup chances. This well written novel shows what growing up in a country going through some changes is like. The hope of young Andy becomes the cynicism of a teenager and all throughout there is Scotland's football team and their never give up attitude.

Early Man (2018)
2018 | Animation
From the creators of Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit comes the “true”
story of the origin of the world’s most popular sport-football (or soccer
as we call it in the U.S.). A charming film that takes us back to the dawn
of man, The Stone Age, where a motley band of cavemen and women live an
archaic lifestyle foraging and hunting for their food.

Their way of life
is shattered as the Bronze age approaches, and mining for metal becoming
superior, along with the love of football (soccer) playing second. The
leader of the Bronze Age conquerors Lord Nooth strips the cavemen from
their land to mine for more metal and for smelting. Eager to keep their
way of life and get their home back, the Cavemen challenge Lord Nooth to a
game of football.

Who doesn’t love a good underdog story? As you can guess, it’s hysterical
slapstick humor and sheer silliness of epic proportion. In true Wallace
and Gromit fashion, Aardman animation create a movie with an underlying
sweetness that makes the audience fall in love with such delightful
characters.

Featuring an all-star British voice cast featuring Tom
Hiddleston, Maisie Williams, Tom Redmayne, and Timothy Spall, Early Man may
not be your typical run of the mill bright, boisterous, tug at the
heartstrings type of movie, but it definitely provides enough physical
comedy to keep the audience laughing and a great message about teamwork and
learning to coexist.
