"Kasey Musgraves wrote this song, and Roger did an amazing job covering it. I found this song in an airport right before a long trip I took for some shows I played last year and I remember listening to it about 100 times in a row. It’s just a great song and Roger did it justice. Even if I don’t smoke weed"

I found this book a fascinating expose about the death penalty and the corruption of the Texan justice system. However, like many of the other review writers I lost interest towards the end and felt Grisham spent too much time on his soap box at the expense of good storytelling. Overall a fascinating, challenging read but bit disappointing towards the end.

"“This French writer was new to me; I found his novel in a hurry at the airport. It’s very funny, full of insight on being arrogant and getting old, and on being a servant who is generous of spirit. Humility, grumpiness, some tender love, and brutal violence. I will now investigate all of Garnier’s other books — there are about 60!”"

"I just finished Moby-Dick, which scared me off for a long time due to the hype of its difficulty. I found it to be a beautiful boy’s adventure story and not that difficult to read. Warning: You will learn more about whales than you have ever wished to know. On the other hand, I never wanted it to end."

"This was a life changing record for me because, up to that point, I was lost. Really disenfranchised. I really hadn't found anybody else who was singing my song, so to speak. But Bon [Scott] really embodied everything that I thought a frontman should be. And between Malcolm and Angus [Young] I knew of no guitar duo at that time that touched them."

"Christopher Nolan’s American remake was perfectly fine, but it still couldn’t capture the gut-twisting oppressiveness of Erik Skjoldbjaerg’s original. Anchored by Stellan Skarsgard’s impeccable portrayal of a man drowning in his own sins, this is the neonoir that truly turned noir on its head: darkness becomes something you pray for, while light is a straight razor that’s found entrance to your brain."

"I guess because there was some socially conscious stuff going on in that movie. To see somebody stand up to the injustice the way he did was so good. I found the movie to be so honest. That movie was independent when movies were truly independent. That was not a studio movie by any means. I just dug the whole premise of it."

"This is a book that brought me to my knees in gratitude. So much ancient wisdom that I had assumed lost is to be found here. For those of us of African descent—and who among us is not?—it will generate a gentle healing in just those areas of community, ritual and memory where we’ve felt so orphaned and bereft."

"As popular as this novel is among the Arthurian Legend fanatics and 13-year-old boys, I have always found it and its author very untrendy to love. Then Helen McDonald’s stunning H is For Hawk came along last year and blew up my spot. Still, I’m happy to share the love — and to know much more about T.H. White now."
