Kristy H (1252 KP) rated The Commission: A Sam Kincaid Mystery in Books
Feb 13, 2018
The story in this novel managed to capture my attention fairly well (even if I did figure out a good portion of the plot early on), but the writing was rather painful. The author left nothing to the imagination or inference, but spelled every single plot point, emotion, and thought out. I found myself rolling my eyes fairly often... but still curious as to what would happen next.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated The Misadventures of Two reluctant Zombie Hunters (Vol.1) in Books
Mar 18, 2018
This book was full of sarcasm and snark. Therefore I loved it. The main characters did not have a hero complex at all like most zombie type books. The Rules made me laugh. KL was my favorite because I just want to be like her. I am glad I got this recommendation or I may never have found this book and author. I will be reading more, including Vol. 2.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2346 KP) rated Last Light (Restoration #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The Branning Family has found themselves stuck in the suburbs with no modern convinces. The entire world has been hit, and nothing electric works. But even worse, there's a killer in their neighborhood. This Christian novel grabbed me, and I loved it. Unfortunately, the characters were a bit shallow.

Clare Parrott (294 KP) rated The SEAL's Rebel Librarian (Alpha Ops, #2) in Books
Feb 13, 2018
I loved this book, when I first started it I thought the characters sounded familiar and then realized I read book one a couple of months ago so this was an easy and compelling read. I liked the characters, Erin just goes and grabs what she wants and that includes Jack. It makes a change for the woman to do all the instigating and I found it refreshing.

Chrissie-ann (78 KP) rated It (2017) in Movies
Jun 18, 2018
Tim curry was hard to beat
I really enjoyed watching this, I has high hopes about this remake but never expected Tim Currys Pennywise to be topped. But I am willing to admit that is what happened. I felt unnerved throughout the whole movie. I found the acting to be convincing and I felt involved in the story and a connection to the characters. I look forward to the second.

Briannabrown1019 (799 KP) rated The Houses October Built (2014) in Movies
Jun 18, 2018
I may be a little biased, as I have a special place in my heart for found footage movies. However, I really did enjoy this one. It was unique as far as the topic goes, and was made to feel very real. No one really does know what they're getting into when they go to haunts. They may be deemed safe and fun, but are they always really that way?

Fluent story progression (2 more)
Amazing character development of new characters
A fulfilling ending that ties the loose ends.
Became slow in the second quarter (1 more)
Dull at times
What a climax
Contains spoilers, click to show
This one took me a while to read if I'm honest, into the second quarter I found myself struggling to continue and I did stop reading it entirely for a while. However I persisted and boy am I glad I did.

Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Interview with the Vampire: Claudia's Story in Books
Jul 12, 2018
Wow, this was a beautiful graphic novel. I fell in love with the illustration. The sepia tones with the red highlights were beautiful.
This is a good companion graphic novel to "Interview with the Vampire". I found myself fascinated with the illustrations and the quotes from the original novel. I'm glad that I bought the hardcover novel because it is going to be a book that I'm going to show off.

Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Mime Very Own Book in Books
Jul 12, 2018
This was really interesting. I have been challenging myself to read things that I normally wouldn't. This picture book was hilarious. I found the mime pictures to be creative and entertaining. It was something very unique. I am glad that this was a book I picked up and flow through. I do wish that the pictures were larger. They were a little hard to read/see/enjoy on my Nook.

Gisell Middleton (189 KP) rated The Girl From Home in Books
Jul 12, 2018
This book is amazing! I found myself captivated from the very first page and wanting more. I enjoyed the dual narration, mostly because it was seamless and not announced. The time jumps made for an interesting contrast in the main character's situation and personality evolution and having that only halfway through the book kept it fresh and not confusing. One of the better books I've read in a long time!
