"At the moment she’s in the news for all the wrong reasons [the 71-year-old Mitchell was recently hospitalised after being found unconscious at her LA home]. So I would like to get it on record that I’m a fan. The emotional content is great, but the sheer musicality of it all is amazing – it’s written on a dulcimer, one drone string, which really appeals to me a lot"

Found this one years ago in some second hand store and bought it for fun. I truly enjoyed it even though (as someone else noted) the mystery part wasn't very suspenseful. But the characters are fun and the story zips along at a fast pace. The movie version (with George Segal) wasn't that bad an adaptation, but the book is always better. Give it a try, yo might find it tasty!

Despite what I read about this book from the publisher's blurb, I didn't find this story to have much humor or irony in it. In fact, I found it to be a very harsh and difficult tale, which was at the same time an extremely compelling read. You can read my full review of this book here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2013/12/12/not-seeing-the-trees-for-the-forest/

I'm not going to put a full review up on my blog for this little book, which is too short to even be called a novella. This is a lovely character study story about a very troubled Japanese chef. Gently written and filled with humor, it is also quite sad. I don't recall which blog I found reference to these "Red Circle Mini" books, but thanks to whomever it was! Delightful!

I loved this book and thought the Audible narration was creepy in all the best ways. Unfortunately I found that I didn't care for any of the characters and would have been just as happy if nobody made it out alive at the end of the story. Probably the only book to actually get under my skin in years - so that's a major positive.

Really enjoyed the first season. I binge watched which probably did me a favour, as I found the storyline all over the place, jumping between characters. Great cast of actors, really well scripted. Very graphic in places, sexually, violently, coarse language. Be prepared to have your mind twisted, as I am still not sure who the good guys are...

I mean I have to agree, Pablo Schreiber makes anything worth binge watching. But I do think this show is awesome anyway, it fufills my mythology geekiness.🤓

DNF...In fact, I barely started. DNF at 9%.

I knew from the start that I didn't like the style of this. I found it hard to get into; in three days I had read 9%. Me, who devours books? There must be something wrong for me not to.

This is the third book I've read by the author and this is the one I've least enjoyed. Not for me.

Superb
This heist film ticked a lot of my boxes. Coming somewhere between the slickness of Ocean's Eleven and the bumbling idiocy of the wonderful Welcome to Collinwood, it gets the balance between genius planning and blind luck just right. As with any heist film, things go wrong, things get fixed and a scapegoat is found.
Brilliant cast, with the exception of Hillary Swank who basically chews the scenery.

The Platform manages to make a room with a hole interesting for two hours, but its downfall is in its blatant moral dilemma. It assumes that all people start at the same level when we know damn well, that is not the case. Overall, it's well put together, but I found the message hard to believe. 6/10
