Kate (355 KP) rated The Circle (2017) in Movies
Jan 25, 2019
Very good film, I have watched it a couple of times. I think it is supposed to be slightly in the future but it could actually be present day because it is based about living your life on social media and posting everything and I mean everything and the company that runs the software like Facebook. It is alarming real life as it shows how quick someone can be found via social media and it is a scary thought. Certainly thought provoking.

This one came from out of nowhere
never heard of Claire Fuller before or this book and actually got it in a secret santa at work. Well Santa knows me well because it was bloody fantastic. My poor kids were hungry because I found it hard to not pick it up when I came home from work and hard to put it down afterwards. This is a disturbing and gripping story that is so upsetting because its entirely believable.

I didn't love volume 9 of The Rising of the Shield Hero. I found it to be pretty boring, to be honest. The story didn't really move forward. A new character was introduced, but she was just there. She was shown a few times, but didn't really give her much of the focus. It was like a 9th volume was due, and what was published was just space filler. Hopefully the story will pick back up in the next volume.

Second book that I have read from this author and it grabbed me just as much as the first. Brilliant story that kept me guessing although I was dubious of it at first from the tagline. My desire to persevere was right and I found it immensely intriguing.
The characters were brought to life as I read and I went through all of their trials and tribulations alongside the characters.
Definitely inspired me to try some more books from the author.

Ross (3284 KP) rated New Day Rising by Husker Du in Music
May 1, 2020 (Updated May 17, 2021)
Rolling Stone's 488th greatest album of all time (428th in the 2020 list)
This album and I have a bit of a past. I like some Husker Du, but I really want to love them. The thrashy guitars and wailing vocals tick my boxes. But this album just seems to be those and very little in the way of a song, and I found it largely unpleasant listening. I am hoping Warehouse or Candy Apple Grey are higher in the list.

The trailer is better
Found this on Netflix and the trailer made the film look interesting, so as a family we settled down to watch it. i enjoyed it but my two sons thought it was terrible. Yes it took quite a while for the story to get going and all the action happened in the last quarter of an hour. Expected a few more shocks but they didn’t happen. The big question is was the film lining up for a sequel.
