I got this as a Christmas present from my mum last christmas, and have just got round to reading it. Usually I read the book before watching the movie/ tv series, but this time it was the movie and series which made me get the book.
I really enjoyed the story and found it quite easy reading, with easy to connect with characters. Cassandra Clare has created a world which I was happy to get a glimpse inside of and I can't wait to get the second book to continue the adventure with Clary and Jace.

I know this year has been totally bogus so far, but on this day at 10:05 AM Hawaii Standard Time I found myself right where I was supposed to be, pressing play on Bill & Ted Face the Music. For the next hour and a half all was right in the universe, all universes, and I felt most excellent; as most excellent as I've felt all year. The release of this movie was the harmony we all needed right now. May we all unite and be kind to one another so that we can continue to party on dudes.

Essentially just another poor man's version of 'Robocop' but without the class of something like 'Upgrade' that was still original enough to stand out. This is firmly middle of the road forgettable B movie territory that would have gone straight to video in the 90's. It has some reasonably decent action scenes but I found that I really just didn't care how it ended. You are also certainly reminded of the limitations of Vin Diesel's acting when he is away from the 'Fast and Furious' family. Guy Pearce must have really fallen on hard times to agree to appear in this.

This one has been my favorite so far! I know that there isn't as much action in this film in comparison to the others, but I found myself hanging on more to this movie than any other one. There were several times I gasped so loud because I wasn't sure what was going to happen and I got scared! Not in a bad way, in the best way! I also think this movie had the best storyline. I also love Jeremy Renner. He's incredible.

This one is definitely my favorite and I'm excited to finish the last two!

Think this book may have fallen victim to the too much hype before I read it syndrome, I kept hearing what a great procedural this was but as solid as it was it didn't blow my socks off.

Unusually, with a police procedure, I liked the main characters but found the actual story/case somewhat lacking. With a bit too much showing behind the curtain, I didn't find the investigation into the gruesome crime all that fascinating. The interesting side case was wrapped up too early and I'm just left hoping our intrepid French/Scottish investigator will have a better outing next time.
