Debbiereadsbook (1413 KP) rated Roman's Gift in Books

I was gifted my copy of this book, direct from the author.
Ms Pratt has a way with words, writing contemporary, that few can master. She nails it here, she really does.
I loved that Roman is given the voice, rather than Juliette. It's been a long, LONG time since I read a book written entirely from the male's POV only, but I loved it here.
Juliette kinda annoyed me at points, and I think, had she been given a voice, I might not have enjoyed this quite so much.
Roman's PTSD is dealt with sensitively, and very well. It's hard reading, but Ms Pratt delivers it, at every level. Made me cry a time or three. I loved when he realizes those cloest to him really are his family, his found family, but still.
A not easy, but very well written and delivered, 4 stars and I thank you for my copy!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review when I signed up to host the book tour. I made no guarantee of a favorable review.
Good book but was extremely slow at the beginning and though I wanted to put it down and stop reading it I continued and found that it did start to become interesting. Tragedy hits Bella and her family which was extremely sad but I did enjoy the relationship between Bella and Jeremiah and some parts of the story dropped my jaw wide open. It is a good read, I just wish it hadn't dragged on during certain parts.

I was literally hooked from the very first page. I found myself completely invested in the story, dying to know WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS FAMILY?? Diondra - I would've liked to have punched her in the face throughout the story. I couldn't believe she killed one of the girls! When she went to jail, I felt quite satisfied. And the mother hiring the Angel of Debt? I definitely did not see that coming. One night that went horribly, horribly wrong for everyone involved. It was interesting to me that the author left Crystal "in the wind," so to speak. I suppose that could be considered an opening for a sequel...

Don't get me wrong, I am not the biggest Marvel fan in the family (step forward, my daughter), but I really enjoyed this story, which was strong and involving. Usual great action scenes and funny bits to keep you entertained, I am seriously considering a DVD purchase when the time comes. Only gripe is the excellent soundtrack does not seem to be available with all the great 90s tracks - and the orchestral soundtrack is only on MP3? How am I meant to play that in the car??

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2320 KP) rated Stone Cold Dead in Books

While Morgan is struggling to take over the family rock shop, she finds a dead body behind the store. But when she comes back for help, the body has vanished.
The plot in this one is a bit slow, although the characters were wonderful. I found myself caring about the sub-plots more than I thought I would because of the characters. And the mystery does reach a satisfying and logical end.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was just the book for me. I found myself in love with Felicia Day's quirky and unique experiences. This book is full of fun, horrifying, and hilarious stories that shows the reader just how awesome she is.
Felicia didn't hold back in this book, you get an in depth look into her life and how she became who she is today. You learn about her depression, her health issues, her friendships, and her family.
I'm so glad that I purchased this book. It was quirky and hilarious and I loved every minute of it.
If you're looking for a fun geeky experience, this is the book for you.

Promoting self belief and acceptance.
Not really sure what theI point of this film was.
To me this movie made no sense other than promoting self acceptance, love and family dynamics.
I went into it expecting a scifi, empowering, adventure story, instead I found it overall lacklustre. I was honestly bored after half an hour which rarely happens and the disappointing thing was, that this could have been a great film, it had good potential.
Im not even sure this film would appeal to kids to be honest.
However I would say its very colourful and the visuals are pretty good.

Being a disney, I had high hopes for this film, I love disney, and was so excited, when I see the trailer, I thought it looked a brilliant film, I was extremely disappointed, worth a watch if you have an hour or 2 to kill, but thats as far as it goes.
About a young family, the parents are scientists, who are studying a theory into other realms and dimensions, suddenly the father goes missing.
Years later, magical beings start to appear to the children, and send them on a big, magical quest to find and save their father.
I found I got lost half way through the film.
