A dogs purpose again
I love a good heartfelt dog movie. My dogs love them too, they will sit and watch with me and actually get invested. And though we enjoyed this one just as much as the others that fall in the dog tearjerker movies it loses some points in my opinion in just being a repeat of the film it follows. Yes, I know it has differences but they're too small. Literally, the same joke is made about when bailey comes back as a girl. It is funny but it was already told. Don't get me wrong I like the story. I like the small connections to the first film. However, A Dogs Purpose was so special and unique they were hardpressed to make a sequel. I get it, the premise of the story can go on forever. That's the point of reincarnation but that doesn't mean the story HAS to continue. Now I do recommend this movie it is enjoyable but in my honest opinion, it wasn't necessary especially when other movies with the same idea "Dog narrated dramas" keep popping up and being successful.

A good example of the phenomenon where people who are clearly competent at their jobs work hard to ensure they make a deliberately bad film. Gardeners, their barmaid friend, her flatmate, and a comedy alcoholic war veteran are caught up in a plague of carnivorous pterosaurs from outer space; the plot is basically bits from Sharknado, The Giant Claw, and Tremors all jumbled up together.
A bit overlong even at only 95 minutes, but there is the odd funny line, a sort-of coherent plot, and various attractive young people, the female ones in tight tops. But neverthless: back when special effects were routinely awful, film-makers worked hard to make their stories and characters seem credible; now any goon with a laptop can do decent CGI, the default mode seems to be 'let's not get caught taking ourselves remotely seriously'. Some kind of creative cowardice is in operation at some point in the making of a film like this one. Sample line of dialogue, after one of the female characters is eaten: 'You reptilian asshole! I was about to get laid!' Casablanca, eat your heart out.

OK, that was good.
Written by a comedian - Aaron Gillies - I came across this when a friend recommended it in one of my WhatsApp group chats. I'm not sure why: we hadn't been discussing the subject matter, but none-the-less (and for 99p) I thought I would give it a shot. And I'm glad I did.
Whilst there are parts that were completely alien to me (and I'm not a fan of the swearing: it's not funny, it's not clever, and it's not smart), there were other parts where it felt like the author had, essentially, been riding around in my brain for the day: almost as if he and I had inhabited the same little part of this space-time continuum.
An easy read (if not an easy subject matter) and Aaron Gillies doesn't claim to hold all the answers, simply providing his experiences and what has worked for him, alongside some dark humour that actually had me laughing out loud at one or two moments in the narrative (is that the right word?).
And now with a bonus chapter on 'How to Survive a Global Pandemic" ...

Enjoyable to a point
I love Danny Boyle, he's one of my favourite directors (and he's a local lad) although I have to admit this is probably one of my least favourite films of his so far.
Richard Curtis and Danny Boyle working on the same film should be a match made in heaven. However the result is this enjoyable but sadly rather predictable romcom. Himesh Patel is a likeable lead, but I found the romance aspect with him and Lily James entirely corny and completely predictable, even for Richard Curtis. The music is good, it would be seen as it's the Beatles, however I did find it odd that in the story Himesh finds out about a number of bands and things that no longer exist (some are quite funny), yet only decides to choose the songs from the Beatles. Could they not get the rights for anything else?
There's a few laughs in this although not as many as I'd expected, and I loved the nod to Love Actually. Overall the film is enjoyable and your typical feel good Brit flick, however I don't think it's particularly memorable or exceptional.

I love it
So me my sister and fiancé have been watching alot of films, I have seen this one a few times on Netflix and ordered it the other day, it finally came through and we all sat down to watch, my sister and fiancé said how shit they thought it was, me on the other hand loved it, everyone knows I love a budget comedy horror.
Sad opening when a mother is put down because she stared in a cheesy 80s slasher, now older and wiser she has a daughter max, you see there bond and relationship very fast and you see how it was taken away in one quick car crash, on the anniversary of Max's mums death she goes to the cinema to watch the film her mother was in, a fire breaks out and in a swift exit behind the screen a handful end up within the film. It's a comical fight to live and it pulls on plenty of heart strings as max is reunited with her late mother. I personally thought it was a brilliant cheesy, funny film and definitely worth the watch!!!

I honestly wasn't expecting a whole lot from Night Teeth, so I was suitably surprised by just how tight and entertaining it turned out to be.
Jorge Lendeborg Jr. is a charming and likable protagonist and a hero that's easy to root for, as is Debby Ryan. The two of them have great chemistry and carry the bulk of the film well. Lucy Fry and Alfie Allen are convincing in the more villanous roles, and smaller appearances by the likes of Sydney Sweeney, Megan Fox, and Alexander Ludwig ensure that the overall cast is a strong one.
The pacing is snappy and never gets boring, and the narrative is one that handles its multiple threads nicely, and avoids bogging down the plot with too much lore building.
Another plus is how visually pleasing the whole thing is. Night Teeth is draped with striking colour, sticking out against its night time LA backdrop.
It's certainly not without it's flaws - some of the dialogue doesn't land well, and the CGI, although minimal, is glaringly shit in places, but it's not enough to tarnish an entertaining vampire flick, that's often funny, and easy on the eyes.

Well that was fun. I found it so funny watching that woman Vivianne get what was coming to her it’s been a long time coming. Really enjoyed this book there were a few moments that got a bit repetitive but only a few little bits. It was full of Little twists too. I’m looking forward to reading Elles story now that we have finished Snows story.

Deadly Slip While Decorating
When one of Jaine Austen's clients, Seymour Fiedler of Fiedler on the Roof Roofers, is sued for wrongful death, he hires Jaine to put down her pen and solve the crime. Seems that Garth Jankin fell off his recently reroofed house while decorating for his neighborhood's annual Christmas decorating contest. Since Garth had numerous enemies, Jaine quickly decides that the tiles must have been loosened. But who would do something like that?
As with the books, this story is very funny. Jaine can't resist temptation, and spends time talking about her need to lose weight while eating Christmas candy. A sub-plot about Jaine volunteering with a group that mentors underprivileged girls almost slows the story down at times. In fact, it makes the ultimate climax seem a little abrupt. But Jaine is a charming character and I love spending time with her. The other characters are interesting as well. And several red herrings keep this story interesting and fun until the end.
NOTE: This story was originally released as part of the anthology Candy Cane Murder. If you’ve already read that book, you don’t need to get this story a second time.

This book has divided opinion on Goodreads - I’m coming down on the “I enjoyed it” side. I like a book that has absolutely nothing in common with my life: the vulnerable, arty Cleo, and the quick, excessive Frank may as well be from another planet with their lifestyle, excesses and impulsive marriage.
There are a fair few vulnerable characters in this novel: Cleo, Zoe (Frank’s sister), Quentin (Cleo’s gay best friend) and Eleanor. Actually Eleanor comes late to the story, and I could have read so much more about her. She’s funny, has an interesting family and simply has a lot of interesting things to say.
I’ll just add that there’s an attempted suicide in this, and both Cleo and Frank have some pretty serious mental health issues. Whilst I think they were sensitively and well dealt with, they may be upsetting for some readers. And then there’s the Flying Squirrel incident. I’d be more than happy to never have to think about that again.
So, if you like reading about complicated relationships and self-destructive behaviour, then this will be the book for you. It’s certainly a book that I’ll remember.

After many failed online dates, a young woman turns her disasters into a columnist job. This doesn't stop her again trying to get a date though, she's matches with a guy on a dating app called josh and they really hit it off. They talk and text all the time and he seems a really great guy. After 2 weeks of speaking with him, she believes she has found the perfect guy, and flies 3000 miles to surprise him......... Only to find she has been catfished. In disgust she leaves and goes for a drink at a local bar, where the real josh turns up. After a disastrous attempt to seduce Tag (real josh), Josh offers to set Natalie up with Tag as long as she pretends to be his girlfriend until Xmas.
Despite the predictable outcome of the movie, I really enjoyed it. Nina dobrev is fab and plays a really likeable character who is also pretty funny, and Jimmy o. Yang who plays Josh fits well with Ninas character too as the awkward shy guy, who just wants to find love. This has definitely been added as one of my fav Xmas movies.
