Blithe Spirit (2020)
Blithe Spirit (2020)

Blithe Spirit is gentle British romantic comedy that is based off a play by Noel Coward. Gentle is the key word here, Blithe Spirit is a slow tale that tries to focus on the relationships of the three main characters. Even the humour is quite mild.
There are a few familiar faces in the film but that's no surprise, as the saying goes 'Welcome to England, we have 20 actors, 4 sets and 14 Doctors'.
There was something a bit 'Cheep', I can't quite place my finger on it but there are a few times that the sets look a bit to like sets.
Even from this version you can see how the original is an inspiration for later films such as Ghost.
I you want a slow paced film with an entertaining story and light laughs and totally inoffensive then Blithe Sprit is worth a look.

The reviews sounded promising and I do enjoy a good haunted house yarn. What starts as a ghost story veers towards the running of an illegal brothel by two sick low-lifes. When a cash-strapped girl moves in she finds that, not only is there strange things that go bump in the night, but these two landlords are extremely dangerous. Could the hauntings and these men be linked?
A compelling read at times but certainly not scary. Or at least to me. Well written with a couple of amusing surreal moments but it was difficult to feel much for our leading lady. She really does make some questionable decisions. Also, it is a book of two halves. The second half (3 Years Later) is enjoyable enough but possibly unnecessary/unneeded?
Overall a very good read but not one I would feel the urge to read again.

Haunting of Hill House Review
Haunting of Hill House is a Netflix Original released mid 2018. The show caught me off guard as I suspected it was just another show on Netflix thst was hyped up and failed to entertain. However, I was surprised to find myself binging the season every chance I got in my spare time. The first thing that intrigued me was the "Easter Egg Ghosts" is what I have labeled them. These ghosts would appear somewhere in certain scenes that the characters never notice but we, the audience, noticed. They're not in every episode or every scene, but they're there. The spookiness of this show was far better than I thought it would be, the story was unique enough to leave me wanting more, the ending took a different turn than it was leading up to, not a bad turn, definitely a different turn. The show in my opinion deserves a lot more attention than I feel it has received as it isn't just another ghost story, it's one that had kept my wife and I on the edge of our seats but also on guard in the dark. Check The Haunting of Hill House out on Netflix if you're brave!

Interesting characters, great spooky mystery (0 more)
Sometimes the pacing can be a bit slow (0 more)
I read the Nancy Drew books when I was a kid and loved them, so I was pretty interested in checking out the show. I am really enjoying it so far. The characters are interesting each with their own strengths and skills that they bring to the group. Nancy herself is very smart, but I like that she's also not perfect. She makes mistakes and her friends aren't afraid to call her out on it and eventually she does own up to it and tries to make it right. It makes her feel like a fully developed character. The main mystery is great with a few extra side mysteries thrown in. I am enjoying the spooky ghost story elements to it too and there have been a couple episodes where the show scared me with it. Sometimes the pacing feels a little slow with the writing and it can feel very drawn out at times, but it doesn't detract too much from how good the show is. The cast is really good and they bring the characters to life. I'm enjoying it and always looking forward to the next episode to see where the story goes.
