Mulholland Drive (2001)

"I saw Mulholland Dr. when it came out, and I was already into Lynch. God, what do you say? On a first viewing it’s so confusing, but it’s also so thrilling to watch. It’s sensual, and it turns you on in all the right ways and confuses you in all the right ways. It’s a pinnacle of moviemaking and probably my favorite Lynch, aside from Inland Empire."

"This movie is unbelievable. It was my first introduction to Peter Sellers and I was like, “Who is this guy?” He is so funny and innocent, and so perfect — and what a story, man. The end scene where he walks away on water, I thought, “Oh my gosh, this guy is God. He’s so simple, but he touched all these people and changes them.”"

"It kicks your face in while you’re watching it. The economy of true noir is evident in the pacing, the language, the looks . . . the characters. Lowlife as hero. Fuller nailed it here. Plus, Thelma Ritter. God, someone should build a shrine to that woman, you know? Any time you’re wondering where the great character actresses went, pay your respects to her in this flick."

As much as I can't put this series down at the minute, it's more a case of the will they/won't they/please for the love of God do something! variety than about Integrity getting to know her past and learning the truth about what happened with her father. Though, that part is starting to get a lot more important to me.

Off to start book 3!

The Thin Red Line (1998)
1998 | Action, Drama, War

"The Thin Red Line is extraordinary. It’s war seen from the POV of God or something. There’s a spirituality that you don’t see in a lot of war films. The battle for the hill is amazing. Ben Chaplin receiving the letter from his wife is heartbreaking. And the music is great. I was so happy Terrence Malick decided to make another movie after twenty years."

I'm glad Charley has her memories back and that we're back in New Mexico. Everything was back to how it was pre-amnesia--thank God! All the gang are back and new revelations are aplenty. The humour/camaraderie was back in full force.

I think that it's just been that long since I read book 9 that my love of this series has waned a little.
