Samantha Holtsclaw (25 KP) rated Smile in Books
Jun 29, 2018
Smile is a cute, relatable graphic novel about the author's experiences with her braces and growing up. I thought it was extremely good because I also had braces and a rough time in my teens. That is why I give this 5 stars.
Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated The Marriage Bargain (Marriage to a Billionaire, #1) in Books
Jan 6, 2021
The huge font size made this a quick read. To me, it read like a Mills & Boon/Harlequin book that had been boosted with some graphic sex. I liked it but I wasn't blown away by it, it was all a bit predictable.
Julie Collinge (1183 KP) rated Faceless in Books
Mar 16, 2021 (Updated Mar 22, 2021)
Not for the faint hearted.
I love Martina Cole books, even though they are very violent and graphic in nature. You really feel for Marie Carter, as she hasn’t had a happy life and had no one to look after her through anything.
David McK (3251 KP) rated Frank Herbert's Dune, the Graphic Novel book 2: Muad'dib in Books
Sep 4, 2022
2021's Dune, the movie, ended with Paul Atreides and his mother Jessica falling in with a group of the desert-dwelling Fremen, which included a fight-to-the-death where Paul had to prove his worth to that group.
That forms an early part of this graphic novel, up to about - roughly- the half way mark.
As I said before when I read and reviewed book 1 Frank Herbert's DUNE: The Graphic Novel, Book 1, my only exposure to the Dune tale beforehand was that 2021 film (although I knew the broad strokes: desert planet, Spice, giant Sandworms), so I do feel it will be interesting to see, when part 2 of the movie series comes out, just how close it sticks to this graphic novel. Especially as, apparently (and as the foreword says), the authors and illustrators of this have tried to stick as close as possible to Frank Herbert 's original text as possible ...

Sean Farrell (9 KP) rated Drawn to New York: An Illustrated Chronicle of Three Decades in New York City in Books
Mar 15, 2018
Combining artworks and short storytelling, this graphic novel gives an interesting account of the New York experience over the last several decades. While some moments are especially engaging, there are a few too many that fall flat to make this more than passingly entertaining.
Lumos (380 KP) rated The Stonekeeper (Amulet, #1) in Books
Apr 3, 2018
I'm generally not one for graphic novels, but I thought this was well done. Many of my students are reading this series so I thought I would see what the hype was about. The artwork is beautiful. It is very easy to read and follow.
