Fun the first couple of times
It gets old pretty quickly but it is quite an icebreaker. I first played it at a local munch and it was a lot of fun but the novelty wears off after a while. This is not a game to play with your aunt or anyone who clutches their pearls on the regular unless those pearls are anal beads, and then all bets are off. It's dirty, graphic, full of sexual situations, and lots of things that will offend the average citizen. This game is only for the immature or dirty-minded (in a good way.) I mentioned it to my psychiatrist and she immediately bought a deck and played it with her friends and family then bought all the extensions. The cool kids (my psychiatrist and those like her) play it at the psychiatry practice meetings sometimes.

But how many times can you really answer a question with, "A 3-ft long black double-sided dildo" before it gets old?

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975)
Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975)
1975 | Drama, Horror, War

"I didn’t know there were films that represented the things represented in this film. I didn’t know you could do that. People didn’t think you could do that when this film came out. I always ask myself: how macabre can we go, how graphic can we go, how dark can we go. And the commitment of these actors to the horror that they’re subjected to in this film—you can’t fake that stuff; it’s happening. This nudity is happening, this scatological stuff . . . I don’t know how much of that stuff was happening, but it’s just pure terror and pure excess. There’s also something unwittingly seductive about the beautiful, heightened elements of the film. There aren’t many films that communicate the dangers and trespasses of fascism better than this one. The terror is not in some externalized war story, it’s something that is very domestic and very tangible. You can’t forget a film like Salò, and the shock and the horror of it make such an effective medium for its serious political themes. I think it kind of shares that with Assassination Nation."

Wow. Let me start by saying that there is definitely reason enough for this book to come with warning labels, such as ⚠ graphic scenes, extreme violence, descriptive sexual assault ⚠
However, I am not easily traumatized, so I read on, even though I'd been told by several readers how gruesome it is. They were not wrong. Pretty Girls is without a doubt the most gruesome book I've ever read. That aside, all-in-all, I loved it. It certainly kept me on my toes, had my heart pounding, halted my breathing once or twice. The only reason I have 4 instead of 5 stars is because, every now and then, I felt myself go almost numb. Not bored, oh no, but in a trance-like state where I'd still be reading, but I couldn't absorb the words, causing me to go back a page or so. It was definitely overload. There was also one particular event that, if I'm honest, kind of irritated me with it's simplicity. Overall, however, I enjoyed the thrill!

The Death Of Stalin (2017)
The Death Of Stalin (2017)
2017 | Comedy
Several Russian politicians desperately attempt to solve the question (by scheming, plotting and conspiring) of who is to assume leadership of the Soviet Union after the death of dictator Joseph Stalin in 1953.

I'm amazed at how many films that come out I haven't heard of in advance. This being one of them. It's not my sort of film, and yet it is, all in one go. The trailer was amusing and intriguing, and I knew I had to see it. Then, as if by magic, it appeared as an Unlimited Screening.

With such a varied cast I honestly had no clue what to expect. From Michael Palin to Steve Buscemi... come on! But I, just like everyone else in the screen, was amused and left laughing. I'm not entirely sure we knew what we were watching though, not because it was confusing, but because it is a weird combination of all sorts of different things. You leave and you wonder what you really watched. One thing's for sure, I really want to read the graphic novel now.

Visitors flock to see the Beast House with its blood-soaked corridors and creaky doors. Armed with video camcorders, these poor sould enter the forbidden house, never to return. The deeper they go into the house, the darker their nightmares become. Don't even think about going into the cellar.

Ok so I’m not sure about this at all!! The last book I read of laymon I really enjoyed but this one was hard to stomach! The character of Roy made my stomach turn and I find his exploits were way to graphic for me! So why didn’t I just stop there? Honestly I’m not entirely sure! I was compelled to keep reading and in all honesty what little we got about the beast and the crazy windowless house was kinda cool and had so much potential. Yet I find myself not wanting to ever pick this book up again! However I do want to continue with the series see where it goes. So I think it will take some time to read the second one although it’s in front of me.
