The timeline and research blew my mind
I didn’t know if I was going to like a book purely delivering a take on Greek mythology, turns out I loved it. Circe is pretty much the sole actor on stage and she captivates you with her thoughts, decisions, deeds and most of all her growth into the goddess she was destined to be. The writing was superb.

I recommend this to all my friends to just give it a go, even if you think it’s not your thing.

Chris Ledbetter is a new author to me. His storytelling is nice and well written. I enjoyed his book “The Sky Throne” a fantasy and mythology book. It tells a story about a young Zeus and somewhat of how he comes to be a Geek God.

Will Zeus and his classmates find out what they are to do? The adventures they take are thrilling. Don is short for “Poseidon”. Is this book to tell the story of ancient Greek or is it more geared towards Modern? You will have to read the book to find out for yourself and decide. Though the story of young Zeus is about ancient Greek and becoming Greek God.

Hyperion coming to Create after young Zeus pulls enough pranks to get himself and his best friend expelled from Crete Lower Prep. Will he learn his lesson or will he continue with the pranks? Once his best friend is killed and his mother injured he is sent to Mount Olympus Preparatory Academia. He sent to Mount Olympus Preparatory Academia he as one question “Who is his real Mother”?

I LOVE it!!!!!
I havent finished it yet, i want to take my time and enjoy every minute of it. It's full of Greek mythology, major bonus for me, and an rich storyline. My character has a personality! Everything about it feels beautiful and a joy to play. I still cant read maps, so finding things for me can be a bit tricky. However, there the handy feature to help you find quest goals and Ikaros to guide your way. BEST ASSASSINS CREED EVER!!!!

I've always been intrigued by mythology but I've always known more Greek mythology than Roman so the chance to read more of the Roman mythology and a tale of the God of Love, Cupid, himself? I had to read this.

Psyche is the human Princess whose looks have stunned her cities inhabitants into following her around and giving her gifts all her life. She can do no wrong in their eyes. But in giving the gifts to Psyche and not to the Gods, they've angered them and Psyche must be sacrificed by her family to marry a winged monster. But not all is as it seems.

I was really drawn into this story so easily. I was intrigued by the person Psyche was forced into marrying and it was amazing how quickly I came to like him. Of course I figured out who her husband was pretty quickly and the scenes between them were rather intimate at times and not always sexual.

Both Cupid and Psyche are looking for someone to love them for them and not for their looks. It was great to see the journey they both went on and I even cried at one point because I was so invested in them.

If you like mythology or any of Wendy Higgins' other book then you should give this a try.

An unexpected gem
I decided to read this book purely based on the reviews on here and on Goodreads. It sounded so different to my usual reads that I thought it'd be worth trying, and I'm very thankful I did.

It started off a little unsure, but this could have been down to me getting used to the style of writing and language style used to represent the characters and gods. However it soon picks up and really draws you in. It's an epic tale spanning so many different aspects of Greek gods and mythology. I could barely believe so many mythological tales had been spun into this, and not only that but done brilliant well. It's such a comprehensive and intriguing tale of the goddess Circe, who is a well rounded and feisty female protagonist. I really struggled to put this book down, and my only disappointment is that it took so long to read, and that it ended too of course. I could have quite happily read on about many more tales of Greek gods and mythology woven into Circe's life.

For me this book was pure escapism. Well written and highly captivating, diving into a book about gods and goddesses is a fantastic way to escape the dreary realities of real life.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

I usually don’t read novels like this, but as someone who loves mythology, particularly Greek, I was hungry for a good mythology read. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this as a modern interpretation. Honestly, if the mythology wasn’t involved, I probably would have enjoyed it more. I think I am just a mythology snob…

Overall, I thought the story was humorous and engaging. That being said, it was obvious that the author was a male instead of a female. I can’t explain it, but males just have a certain voice when it comes to trying to write chick lit/romance. While I liked his characters, sometimes I felt that his female lead was a bit of a caricature. I have to remember, however, that people like that actually do exist. With that in mind, she can be a strong yet quirky woman able to hold her own in the world even if she doesn’t always make the best decisions.

As a whole, the story is pretty entertaining. As a woman, I feel a bit put out that a man wrote a novel titled “A Girl’s Guide…” I don’t think I will read the rest of the series but that is more for the fact that it wasn’t my tastes, not because it isn’t an good book.
