I enjoyed this book more than the first in the series, possibly because I saw the more slice of life nature of the book. Some stories start and end early while others for running threads that last longer. Holding it all together is the comic contest. The fun illustrations help make this book a very fast read.

I really liked the first half of the movie it was fun with catchy as heck music and since I have and will always love fairytales I was super excited watching it... But then it got to the halfway point and dear brother's Grimm... IT JUST KEPT GOING AND GOING AND GOING. Seriously one of the reasons I love fairytales so much is that they aren't the longest but damn this movie just drag on then I thought it was over but nope. So I kind of just zoned out near the end.

Although the story is steeped in Hindu beliefs, the spiritual concepts and truths dealt with transfer very well to just about any faith–the idea of devoting what you do to God rather than to self. The main character’s growth through some rather serious life events–injury, loss, death–is so beautifully illustrated without being didactic.

This is a great continuation of the first novel. It looks at how Alice and the other Hinterlanders settle in to life in New York, and Finch’s continuing adventures in The Hinterland. I can’t say much more than this without giving the story away, but needless to say, if you enjoyed the first book, you’ll love this one!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Flatiron Books for my copy to read and honestly review!
