Strong Film, curious ending...
This is a very good Halloween movie, with a great atmosphere, some brutal kills, and some great performances.

However, there is very much a familiar feel to the original film, with some shots being used as an homage, but perhaps too often.

This is certainly a 'force unleashed' type of sequel, wearing it's love for the original openly, which isn't especially a bad thing, but the beats of the film do feel familiar and unsurprising.

The tension and atmosphere of the film are great, and most of the film is well paced, and ominous, and probably worthy of an 8 out of 10.

However, the ending largely left me cold.

There is nothing especially wrong with it, it just felt a bit anti-climactic...perhaps the pacing was off, but it felt a beat too soon, and was a bit disappointing.

It's a very good film, and one which I need to rewatch, and maybe I will change my mind about the ending with more viewings, but at the moment it does detract from my overall score.

Generally though this is easily in the top 3 or 4 Halloween movies, and if you are a Myers fan, you will find a lot to love here.

Hack-O-Lantern is a ride. It boasts a simple plot about a Satanic cult grooming a young boy all the way through adult hood to join their ranks, whilst his siblings just try to enjoy teenage life, and a maniac in a devil mask runs about town killing folk with a pitchfork, all on Halloween night. Standard slasher stuff, but with randomly thrown in music videos, strip teases, and belly dancing. The film even stops dead for a few minutes to show us a stand up comedy routine. It's really really odd.

The whole experience is ball achingly 80s, complete with questionable acting, awkward dialogue, passable gore effects, and an absolutely raging music score. All of the music just sounds like Final Fantasy battle music. It's incredible.

Hack-O-Lantern was aired as part of Joe Bob Briggs 2020 Halloween Special, and is worth a watch to gain some insight into why this films is so weird and disjointed, such as director Jag Mundhra speaking very little English accounting for some of the bizarre dialogue, and his Indian background explaining the out of place Bollywood elements sprinkled throughout. It's a pretty fascinating and quirky horror all in all.

If you're looking for a cheap, ridiculous, and absurd 80s horror, then this ticks all the right boxes.

Pet Sitting at Halloween
It’s October, and things are been quiet for a few weeks now. While Percy has enjoyed the down time, he is worried about needing to get two more recommendation letters to get into college. So he has mixed emotions when he is contacted by Hecate. She is planning to travel to enjoy all the Halloween festivities around the world and needs someone to pet sit. Of course, when those pets are a polecat and a hellhound, both of whom used to be human, things aren’t as easy as they appear. Especially when they escape. Can Percy and his friends track them down before Hecate returns? And what about repairing her mansion?

Like the first of these recent releases, I found the book a little low stakes and a little slow to start. Not to say that Percy didn’t face death. And once things got going, I was hooked on the story, wanting to know how Percy would prevail. I love Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, so getting to spend time with them was great, and I liked the updates on the others we got. I also appreciated how Percy left the new characters we met here. As always, there are plenty of laughs, which I really enjoyed. Fans will enjoy this book. I’ll definitely be back for the next book.

Frightful Time with the New Neighbor
Ricki James-Diaz is leading the efforts of the Bon Vee staff to put on the best haunted house New Orleans has seen this Halloween. Those efforts are being hampered by their new next-door neighbor, who is constantly making complaints about them. Ricki is shocked when she learns who has bought the house – mega movie star Blaine Taggart, the best friend of her late husband. Ricki had hoped to never see Blaine again, but things get complicated when another dead body turns up on Bon Vee property. Can Ricki once again figure out what happened?

I’m so glad that a new publisher picked up this series. It was wonderful to visit Ricki and her friends again. I enjoyed getting to see some of the relationships grow in this book, even if Ricki’s relationship with the detective isn’t really realistic. I also enjoyed seeing Hollywood pop up here. The mystery itself is strong with some nice surprises before we reach the logical ending. It was fun to visit the city during Halloween. As always, I laughed several times while reading. We also get some recipes inspired by vintage cookbooks at the end of the book, including several appropriate for the season. Fans will be just as happy as I was that Ricki and her friends are back.

Not that many films better than this!
I don't know if I can recall the amount of times I have watched The Thing in sheer amazement every time.

The suspense is still there not knowing which member of the Antarctica squad will become a mutation next or even when The Thing will reveal itself to them and the audience.

Some may say Halloween is Carpenter's best film which is hard to argue against; however, I love The Thing most of all.

I can still watch it again and again and be mesmerized, disgusted and in wonderment of its sheer majesty every time.

Have Some Candy
Trick 'r Treat- is one of those horror films that not alot of people heard about, seen and forgot that it excist. Its also a very underrated horror film.

The plot: Interwoven stories demonstrate that some traditions are best not forgotten as the residents (Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Dylan Baker) of a small town face real ghosts and goblins on Halloween. Tales of terror reveal the consequences of extinguishing a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight and a grumpy hermit's encounter with a sinister trick-or-treater.

I like the interwoven stories, how their are connected to each other.

I would recordmend this film.
