Ms. Carlson is back with another emotionally moving Christmas novella. I love her Christmas novellas and will forever read them. She brings wonderful messages from God and mixes them into a captivating story line, and blends it all with characters that steal your heart and become your family til the end.
This Christmas story is set during one of my favorite time periods to read about: WWII, and follows Amelia and her son. I loved how Ms. Carlson transported me back in time. I loved following Amelia on her journey of pain and hope, and longing. The way I felt reading this book, seeing Amelia come to terms with her situation, seeing God work on her heart, really refreshed my own.
If you love stories filled with hope, longing and an ending that will leave you wanting more from a superbly talented author, then this 5 star book is for you. Ms. Carlson delivers her readers a novella that you won't soon forget! Well done!

This book has so much going on I applaud for the complexity of the storyline and the intricacy of the conspiritorial heart of the novel. In the beginning the characters seem really flat, but they develope and change as the action unfolds.
It felt like Cooper being gay was more of a plot point than representation, but the inclusion of Kris and the slight focus on the family dealing with the revelation and his friend standing with him saved it for me.
Addy seemed like someone that let a relationship take over her whole life, and I thought that was a boring character choice, but when explained that her mom was he same was and she fought against it and became her own person, her character was redeemed for me.
Nate and Bronwyn’s Love conquers all in this book and is the primary fire with which my heart is stoked.
I love a well written mystery, but this one was hard for me to get into until I was barreling through the last hundred pages, needing answers to all the questions that came too late.

Intensely compelling
This was a heart-stopping and painful read but there are no regrets in reading it. THE ORPHAN'S TALE broke my heart at the beginning and it didn't stop there. The premise for this story had me searching for the history behind the start of the book; a boxcar of babies on their way to be transported to a concentration camp and a young infant saved. This was based in reality and I can say this book was very well researched and the story throughout felt so tangible.
The two main characters in this book, Noa and Astrid are two women brought together through the rough and barren circumstances of war. They develop that kind of bond that feels like sisterhood. The main story centralises around a circus, such a contrast to war and occupation but this wasn't a joyful, fun life. These two aerialists, learner and mentor, continued in this world just to survive. There was a wonderful cast of characters both in the circus and also along their travels; the character development was superb.
This book provoked such emotion, making the reader really feel the desperation, attachments and loss and hope in 1940s war time Europe. This story was not neatly tied up to make the reader satisfied. Any discomfort or sadness I felt was necessary and right. I don't want to feel my emotions smoothed over for a more comfortable experience, I want to vicariously feel the experiences of these characters cast from real history....and I did.
Pam Jenoff has excelled in her writing, concept, story and character development. This is her best work yet.

Him cheating, me half-heartedly forgiving him, and covering up the fact that we were in a messy, confusing, unhealthy cycle. ‘Feel Again’ tells an interesting tale of a young woman who is head-over-heels in love with a guy who she shares a problematic relationship with.
Apparently, she feels that he has taken advantage of her weakness. After many weeping sessions, she has no more tears left to cry and just wants to feel being loved by someone again.
Later, she admits that she’s addicted to the above-mentioned individual and wants to know why he’s so good at saying goodbye.
‘Feel Again’ contains a bittersweet storyline, pleasing vocals, and lush instrumentation scented with sentimental elements.
“I opened up my heart and wrote this song in 45 minutes with co-writer, Forrest Finn. I still get really emotional thinking back on that relationship, feeling sad that I felt trapped and helpless. This cover artwork is symbolic of me covering up my heart with lies I believed that became my truth. I hope this song heals the heartbroken and is hope for those who have lost love. I'm going to be brutally honest. Throughout the first several chapters of this book, I was only mildly interested. Parker is so negative and closed off, I almost quit reading - I've had experience with that before and reading her thoughts were just too much for me. But I stuck with it, even if hearing about Everett's problem almost made me bow out. I felt like things finally picked up around the time both Everett and Parker left for their trip. Considering how well they get along, all I could do was imagine how entertaining things would be; I was not disappointed! It's crazy, because even though I enjoyed the story and became marginally more interested when they traveled together, I can only describe my interest as casual, at best. A lot of that, I do believe, had to do with how I assumed the book would end. I've gotten used to seeing heartache from chapters away, so perhaps I was trying to cushion the blow. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. Now, I didn't ugly cry. But I did shed some tears and felt the emotions deep within my bones. I yearned right along with Parker. Wished and hoped, even though I kept telling myself it was probably futile. Reading the Divergent series, the Bright Side, and Me Before You has hardened my heart a bit. I don't regret the tears that spilled while reading Ten Below Zero. It made my heart hurt and burst at the same time. I'm equally ecstatic that Whitney releases bonus scenes every few months - I look forward to signing up and reading more, especially from Everett's point of view.

After reading this emotional and heartfelt read, I had to step back and relax before writing my review. Reading through some of this was like deja vu as I myself got pregnant my senior year of high school and I was brought up in a strict Christian home. I was able to relate to Andie and understand her fears with ease.
What I wasn't prepared for was the turbulent and tornadic ride that this author was leading me into so in one split second I went from giggling to feeling my heart being torn into pieces and I honestly felt like I would never recover.
This story line was amazingly beautiful, touching, emotional, sad, and heartbreaking but also inspirational. I loved the development of these characters and I am fangirling over Tori Rigby!
What I wasn't prepared for was the turbulent and tornadic ride that this author was leading me into so in one split second I went from giggling to feeling my heart being torn into pieces and I honestly felt like I would never recover.
This story line was amazingly beautiful, touching, emotional, sad, and heartbreaking but also inspirational. I loved the development of these characters and I am fangirling over Tori Rigby!

love it
This was truly amazing.. I love Brea's writing so much. The characters caught my attention.. and then they held my heart.. I loved how they felt.. I loved their emotions and their love.. Nell was amazing.. she was strong.. and weak all at one time. She needed so much but didn't want even more.. I loved it so much.. Kai made me happy.. he was sexy.. he was strong.. and he knew exactly what he wanted and needed to do to be who he was needed to be. I loved this story and I can't wait to read more of Brea's work.. I am so glad I got to review this one and I highly recommend it if you need a good teary and sweet love story

this is a book i have to own. even before i was finished with it i wanted to read it a second time. it was so hard to finish just because i was so attached to the characters and their lives. it was like they nestled themselves into my heart and wouldn't let go.
unlike some other books where the author spouts off obscure literature and poetry and uses unrealistic prose this was very believable. their conversations, their actions, their passions. clare and henry felt like old friends. really amazing.
there was one tiny thing that bothered me though. it was niffenegger's religious comments. they weren't realistic. maybe to someone who grew up in the 60s but not in a post-feminist world. some didn't even make sense.

Close to Home
Living in Texas all of my life and being surrounded by the oil and gas industry, this movie was close to my heart. Because of the realness of the event, my rating may be a bit biased, but I did enjoy the film. Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell, along with a pretty dynamic supporting cast, recreated the event well and made me care about the outcome. Semi-spoiler...I HATED the bad guy by the end of the movie. No sympathy for him what-so-ever.
