"Should be required reading for any white person in America who has felt that familiar combination of heart-sickness and passivity when thinking about race. It is a valuable tool in the battle to wring all vestiges of racism out of oneself."

I enjoyed this book, it was full of fun, heart felt and sexy moments. I was hooked by the characters, they seem to suck you in and keep you wanting more. this was a quick read for me but still left you wanting more.

"This is my favorite Wes Anderson movie. He is obviously such an incredible visualist, and there was something about Max Fischer that I really related to—I always felt like an outcast, but I had a ton of ambition. It’s quite a feat to make something so visually arresting while also making you laugh and breaking your heart."

"Having always felt deeply impatient and limited by having to express myself in perfect grammar and punctuation (this was pre-apostrophe gate!), I am quietly reveling in the profundity of Mailhot’s deliberate transgression in Heart Berries and its perfect results. I love her suspicion of words. I have always been terrified and in awe of the power of words – but Mailhot does not let them silence her in Heart Berries. She finds the purest way to say what she needs to say. She refines… How beautiful are these sentences?"

What I liked - the characters, the bookstore, some of the language. What I didn't like - the amount of time it took to get to the heart of the matter. Something about the conflict avoidance in this book felt off to me

This book tore me up, left me flayed wide open, then slowly, so very slowly, put me back together. My heart ached for Noah and Jude, but if I'm honest, it broke more for Noah. Either way, I finished this book with the biggest smile on my face. It's been a while since I've felt this full after reading. Definitely worth it!

Rambo: Last Blood (2019)
Rambo: Last Blood (2019)
2019 | Action, Adventure, Drama
Given the earned pedigree of both the Rambo franchise and Sylvester Stallone himself, I had pretty good hopes for this sendoff film.

I am sad to report, that is not what was offered.

Unlike previous Rambo stories, this film seemed to lack heart. While motivation for the titular character was definitely present, I felt that it was most misguided in execution.
