CassidyTristyn (189 KP) rated Stephen King's It in TV

Old Vs. New
I have seen both the original It and the newer remake and I have to say that both are very good movies. They do have their differences, of course, but I try not to compare them too much because I enjoy both of them. If you enjoy Stephen King then you will definitely enjoy It. It displays telltale Stephen King horror that we all know and love. The horror aspect, while obviously a dominant feature, does not completely take away from the underlying friendship within the movie. These kids from Derry band together to face It and develop a profound bond and connection that brings them together again years later. Overall, a really good movie and a just portrayal of a Stephen King classic.

Highway to Nowhere
Dead End- is a funny movie, i dont think it was meant to be funny, but some of the comedy comes out of nowhere. Its a excellent horror movie as well.
The Plot: When a family en route to a Christmas Eve gathering decides to takes a shortcut down a wooded road, an eerie sequence of events signals trouble ahead. After nearly colliding with an oncoming car, father Frank (Ray Wise) picks up a ghostly hitchhiker (Amber Smith) and her infant child. With the sudden appearance of their new passengers, the route becomes dark and treacherous -- and the family's numbers rapidly begin to dwindle in a series of seemingly connected, grisly roadside accidents.
Its a excellent horror flick.

Great Horror Elements, Plot needs more
The horror aspects of this book was really good. It was creepy enough to give you the heebie jeebies and anything to do with strange looking paintings and children always make things more creepier than they should be. (The Shining, anyone?)
I can’t really say I like Daniel as a character. He had it coming to him. It was an awful cruel thing he did and he deserved every last bit of it. None of the characters really stood out here since Daniel was really the center of the plot, but wow Karina. You’re just some kind of special aren’t you? She played on Daniel’s sympathy until he realized she’s completely bat crazy and well, you walked into that one didn’t you? This is what happens when you want the cake and the cherry on top. Just don’t do it. However tempting that is.
Plot wise, it’s pretty entertaining and good stuff for a horror book. It does come off as reading a horror movie in print which is pretty good and frankly, if this ever was a movie, I’d probably watch it and enjoy it better. The ending was great and is everything you would expect in a horror movie or book. There’s mystery elements into the book which does not affect the story that much and adds more intrigue.
Although the horror elements were good, the execution of the story could be better. I thought certain aspects of the plot were just there for convenience. There could have been more to the Mabel plot arc. It was just planted there with no real explanation except it was given about 2-3 pages but no real contribution. I wish there was more to it. It would have helped, and could have made the story much better.
Despite some of the shortcomings of the book, it was an enjoyable read. It was creepy enough to give you the chills and the ending was what you would expect in this genre. Recommended to horror lovers!

Well, that hasn't aged very well.
Mid 80s Eddie Murphy vehicle, with Eddie playing the part of an investigator who specialises in finding lost children and who is hired to find the mystical 'Golden Child', who has been kidnapped from a remote Tibetan monastery and who is supposed to save mankind from themselves.
What follows is a strange blend of (mild) horror, oriental mysticism and crime movie as Murphy is in the case.
Definitely an 80s movie in soundtrack, attitude and fashion.

Plays great tribute to the silent era of films (1 more)
Great stop motion Cthulhu
Experienced the madness like never before
The Call of Cthulhu 2005 was developed by the HP Lovecraft Historical Society celebrating the classic short story by the famed Gothic horror writer it was created purposely to correctly portray what a movie would be like if made during the time of the stories publication which is a silent era movie because of this the movie uses practical effects such as miniature toy sets and a stop motion Cthulhu monster
The movie follows the story of a researcher who is trying to learn the secrets of an ancient cult but soon realizes he may have bitten off more than he can chew when he comes across their God

Good Boy Gone Bad
The Hole in the Ground- is a suspenseful movie i give it that, otherwise its just anethor movie about a boy who you think is normal but in reality he's not. I do like the psychological espects in this movie, that it is a plus. Plus the creepyest, the suspense and the horror are all good.
The plot: One night, Sarah's young son disappears into the woods behind their rural home. When he returns, he looks the same, but his behavior grows increasingly disturbing. Sarah begins to believe that the boy who returned may not be her son at all.
Its a intresting take on a boy who seems normal but he's not. Cause like the plot details he gets lost and when he returns he doesn't seem normal, like a different person. Its a intresting movie, but i fell like i have seen this movie/plot before. Otherwise it is a good movie.

The one. The only. The classic.
One of the original boogeyman films is still a classic. Some common horror elements used even now originated in this film and still work.
No CGI or campy effects in this film, just raw suspense. Certainly not a hugely bloody or gory horror movie, it relies on light and dark and some use of the "jump scare" before it even had a name.
I can't get the eerie theme music out of my head!
Time to rewatch!
