"In 1968 I came to England and stayed at the Inverness Court Hotel in Bayswater. I bought a little hifi - hifi? Lofi! - in an electronics store, and bought Beggars Banquet and The White Album, and listened to them on acid. American acid. Then we went to the Roundhouse and took the guy we bought the turntable from and we never saw him again. American drugs and British drugs were different. Like the difference between American weed and the stuff you had here, mixed with tobacco, Smoke American weed and it was "Cuckoo!" - you're on the frickin' moon. Our acid was LSD from Owsley, the real stuff, and we brought it over. We were eating it like candy. And that's what we gave the to the guy who sold us the turntable. The Stones were the greatest rock'n'roll band ever. They were smart rebels, and you can't make up the stories about Keith, they're too good. They're the blueprint for every band there is."

I know some people complain about how dreary some kids films can be when it comes to the summer holidays. They knock out a bunch of stuff to make your little munchkins get excited and nag you into going. If the nagging takes you to see Hotel Transylvania 3 then I don't think you'll need to worry about it being a dreary outing.

Is it groundbreaking stuff? No. Is it entertaining? Yes.

My toes were tapping. I was laughing. It's an entertaining film. You know where it's going, you know before it even starts if you've seen a trailer for it, and it doesn't matter.

I don't want to spoil it, but there was a part in the movie where I was laughing before something had quite happened... maybe that's what too many years of terrible life choices does to you... when it happens, if you aren't dancing in your seat then you're a monster. And not the fun kind like in the movie!

She pulls us in right away with her working girl narrative:

There is a very precise pizzicato counterpoint between strings and dirty guitar; it creates a sort of art-rock melodic swell that feels like Feist being dry with a band. I love the songwriting and there's a Liz Phair sort of resemblance both in terms of being punk pretty and having a tell-all feel to the lyrics. Yes, go on, do tell.

Rose's last release has a top single with almost 1 million plays, after just 4 years. I think this next project will get there even faster because it sounds fantastic.

The sound of the tracks that I've heard so far is light and nuanced and smart and funny and could put her right on stage at The Hotel Cafe, circa now.
