Over dramatics Done Right

Hilarious and Brilliant

This film is what I'd consider slapstick humor that's been deeply influenced by the dark humor we've all grown to love. Although this film has a slow start and the tendency to loss many at the begin while you make your way through the starting storyline the overdramatics throughout is truly what makes it the brilliant piece it is. For anyone who enjoys the classic action cop film this is a humor they will either appreciate or hate depending on where you truly land on the scale of dark humors. I guarantee that if you truly love dark, twisted humor as I do then you will love this film and won't be able to walk away with anything less than a silly from on your face.

Great performances, but sadly nothing new

The problem with this film is that to me, it’s just a slightly more modern version of 8 Mile. Whilst it’s a little less serious and has a few funny moments, it does seem fairly similar. The cast in this are great, and it’s them that really stand out here. They are talented and that shows, and the music is pretty good too - despite not being into this sort of music, i can appreciate that this part of the film excels.

It’s just a shame that the rest of the film is a little predictable and by the numbers, and just a little bit dull. Aside from the music, there isn’t really anything new here. I was also expecting this to be quite funny but in the end there was only the odd humorous moments.

Following on from the events in the first Bongo Fury book, this novella once again follows the music shop owner Jimmy Black as he unwillingly gets mired in the underworld of Northern Ireland. After the events of the first book, a silent struggle for power among the criminal elements is escalating and people are dying. All Jimmy wants to do is make sure he isn't one of them.

As with the first book the charm of this sequel is in the leading character. Wry, witty, foul mouthed with an eye for the darkly humorous observation, having Jimmy once again show us his world is very welcome. Together with the twists and turns of the plot (a little less straightforward than the first novel) this makes a cracking quick read that combines noir thriller and laugh out loud humour.

Siblings Alex and Christine Schiefer, the latter of whom is co-host of the true crime/paranormal podcast, And That's Why We Drink, share dramatic readings of one-star reviews from Yelp, Google, and other review sites, with an occasional redemption. Listeners write in with a topic and location for them to research for the best one-star reviews and they give us their best reenactments. Their rapport is wonderful, humorous, and fun. I really enjoy listening to these two banter and share stories. They're delightful, adorable and endearing. And the reviews are entertaining.

I wanted to support the podcast so I bought some of the merch, a Beach Too Sandy, Water Too Wet, which is a black shirt with their color logo on it. It arrived quickly, and is soft, comfortable, and fits well.
