Billie Wichkan (118 KP) rated The Shadow Reigns (Witch-Hunter, #2) in Books
May 22, 2019
The second part of the Witch-Hunter series.
The world has been thrown into darkness by the Shadow Witch's revolution. The witch-hunters are scattered, but still strong. The race is now on to gather allies and win the war.
New enemies will arise; loyalties will be pushed to the limit. And an important question will be answered: can a witch-hunter that practices magic ever be trusted, or will he be persecuted?
It is said that 'love conquers all', but this twisted love must stay secret, locked away with the past.
The Shadow Reigns is the sequel to book 1 The Shadow Rises in K.S. Marsdens the witch hunter trilogy.
In the second instalment of the Witch-Hunter trilogy we find the world dealing with the catastrophic aftermath of the witches revolution. The remaining witch-hunters and the army form an alliance to plot the downfall of the powerful Shadow Witch and her followers.
I really like what the author has done with the plot twists in this one.
Hunter is embracing his newly realized anti-magic abilities. Hunter and his companions are searching for MMC survivors.
I found this one witty but also gritty.
The characters are so engaging and can just picture them in my mind.
The story and plot so well done and kept me on the edge of my seat!
Loved also the descriptive imagery of the landscape and also the magic.
Such a wonderful book.
Highly recommend reading!

Merissa (12911 KP) rated Demon Kissed (Demon Kissed #1) in Books

Demon Kissed (Demon Kissed #1) by H.M. Ward
In this book you have the age old tale of good versus evil - angels versus demons - demons versus hunters - which ever way you want to look at it. In this they are Martis who are good, and Valefor who are bad. But then throw in a twist or two and you have a really good story.
The character development for all of them is good but I do have to say that the main female just irritated me at the beginning. She does get better as the book goes on though. The plot and storyline has a good pace to it and enough action to suit most.
Recommended for YA/Paranormal fans.

Entertaining
I like the predator movies. This one was not much different than the rest. Some new characters, plenty of intense(gory)action and cool special effents. Interesting idea about the gene splicing. The story was a little out there, but it's a movie about alien hunters, so don't take it too seriously. The alien dog was a weird part and Olivia Munn's character was not explained very well. How was this biologist so adept with weapons/ fighting? The acting was decent and the cinematography was done really well. Of course they left it open for a sequel(duh). Anyway, it was a fun, entertaining movie and I'd recommended it to antoine who's into action movies. Even if you've never seen a Predator film before. Worth a watch!

Awix (3310 KP) rated The Wild Bunch (1969) in Movies
Jan 23, 2019 (Updated Jan 23, 2019)
Brutal, downbeat western, notorious for its violence. In the 1910s a gang of outlaws takes refuge from bounty hunters in Mexico and enter into a shaky alliance with a corrupt general. Basically another film about the death of the old west, but less romanticised than (say) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; these are hard men in a harsh world.
Quite apart from the volcanic spasm of violence that makes up the climax, the film is notable for its careful ambiguity - the gang eventually earn your respect and sympathy despite their flaws, while the question of who, if anyone, is the good guy in this story is left wide open. A tough film about tough men, but great performances and intelligent film-making make it well worth watching.
