It's OK, the acting is rather bad, the plot line is rather obvious but it does while a few hours away whilst recovering from an illness and you just want to stay in bed. Not one to put on the to watch list though.

Too short
Quick and easy read. It provided a new perspective on Native life and the life of someone who suffers from mental illness. It really expanded my knowledge and such an underrated and underrepresented topic.
Michael Shannon recommended The Minds of Billy Milligan in Books (curated)
Love. I'm hosting a book giveaway on my blog, so check it out. Here is the first paragraph of my review: Happiness, when you have a chronic illness it seems like an impossible defeat. Although Lee’s book is not geared towards those of us who have chronic illness. I still learned a great many things. Even her suggestions were helpful, at least for me they were. They reminded me of some key things in my life that I would do to thank Jesus for things, to express my happiness to those around me, and even to be content in who I am in Jesus.

I love this book. Everything about it. I had my friend read it and he feels the same. It has something for everyone. It has a mystery element, a bit of a love story, and a good look at mental health and illness and its effects.

Absolutely Heartwarming
An absolutely heartwarming tale of true love and what it really means to stand by someone through thick and thin. They've managed to successfully portray not only the degeneration of this illness but also the emotion that comes with it from not only the single individual but all those around them. It was tormenting watching the illness take over his life and prevent him from accomplishing everything he wanted, the acting was also perfect as he portrayed this torment and anguish beautifully. Slowly as he was broken down we all watched him grow stronger and more resilient as this is a true tale of overcoming the hardest of obstacles.

graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated The Boy Who Drew Monsters in Books
Feb 15, 2019
The Boy Who Drew Monsters is a slow-burn of a novel. It never really picks up but it sort of meanders through interpersonal relationships, mental illness and Asperger's, a touch of horror, and plenty of atmosphere. While I wasn't wowed by the book, I liked it well enough and would read another Donohue book.
Bohan Reviews (215 KP) rated At Eternity's Gate (2018) in Movies

There are moments that are beautiful in terms of the cinematography and the storytelling, but the glorification of every element of Van Gogh's life creates a problematic interpretation of a man who suffered from mental illness.
