Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2353 KP) rated Elmer and the Dragon (My Father's Dragon, #2) in Books

The journey home with the dragon is filled with danger when they encounter a storm and must land on an island with the dangerous disease of curiosity. While not quite as imaginative as the first book, it is still fun for all ages.

Dean (6927 KP) rated The First Purge (2018) in Movies
Jul 13, 2018 (Updated Nov 28, 2018)
Average 4th Purge film
Definitely the weakest entry so far. The Purge is conducted solely on Staten Island to see what would happen. It has all the usual plotlines from the other films to do with class, racial and political divide. If you liked the other films check it out otherwise not one to be in a hurry to watch.

First off, I want to move to Little Sister Island. The imagery that Werlinger created was amazing. The main characters were strong and their relationship development was steady. What truely made this book stand out were the secondary characters. They were so important to the story and were almost part of the setting. I really recommend you read this book. It is a warm fuzzy feeling book.

Seemed like a good idea...
Also known as Survival Island in America. Classed as an erotic thriller, unfortunately failing on both counts. Kelly Brook does get naked for about 2 mins of the film and that's it. There isn't much tension, or scares and it has a daft voodoo sub-plot. A similar and much better film, also starring Billy Zane, is Deep Calm.

David McK (3562 KP) rated Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Other Tales in Books

One of the classics of English literature, this short story is also by the same author who wrote "Treasure Island" (amongst others).
What I found interesting, though, is in how Mr Hyde is described within: unlike the malformed gaint monstrosity that is familiar form TV and film, Hyde is actually described as younger than Jekyll and of a lesser stature, while still projecting an aura of evil.

Gives a good portrayal based on the writings of Edgar Allan Poe. Some pretty big cast names. The plot is predictable yet not predictable at the same time. The cast give great performances but the whole thing goes a bit slow for my taste... Mildly reminiscent of shutter Island imo.
Overall it was good but needs a bit of effort to keep full attention.
