Full disclosure, I absolutely loved the first Peter Rabbit film. I found it completely hilarious and cackled numerous times. The sequel did not make me laugh.
I typically don’t watch straight-up kid movies anymore, because they’re not funny, and they are as annoying as the kids in the audience. This movie completely reminded me of that.
The film begins with the wedding of Bea and Thomas, the rabbits and other members of McGregor’s Garden are all present. The animals are mixed in with the humans, and it looked very odd. I can’t figure out why. Bea and Thomas enter married bliss (?), running a shop in town, and tending the garden. Bea’s first Peter Rabbit book has been published by Thomas himself. Bea receives an offer from a publisher, Nigel Basil-Jones, played by David Oyelowo, to have her book republished so it can reach a wider audience. Bea begins to compromise her integrity to please Nigel and make the rabbits hipper to boost sales. Meanwhile, Peter embraces his bad boy/ mischievous image and makes friends with this super creepy rabbit from the city, participating in food heists.
The two main plotlines really didn’t make sense together and seemed to only be related because they were both about family. Yawn.
James Corden, who I can tolerate most of the time, was so completely annoying. His performance killed any motivation I had to see a possible third movie. This movie was just dumb, but I guess it probably entertained children.
There were a few positives. Oyelowo was hilarious, and one of the best parts of the film. He is the only reason I’m giving this film two-stars His comedy skills are on point and his interactions with Domhnall Gleeson were the best source of adult laughs. I also loved the voice acting of Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail. Though, I was a little bummed that Daisy Ridley did not return as Cottontail.
The recent marketing stated, “In Theaters. Finally”. I’m not sure this film should have been released in theaters, they should have released it on VOD at Easter-time either in 2020, or 2021.

I'm not sure whether you need to watch the other films in this series being that this is number four in the sequence. I did buy them before this came out but never got round to them. I don't think I've missed out of anything, but you can never be sure.
We get a lot of striking black and white (sort of) shots throughout the film. The snow and dark buildings are very effective. As were the action sequences. You can see a snippet of the home invasion in the trailer and the slow motion leap. I do wonder how many films put them in just because they think it's the done thing. But the whole piece worked well.
I don't really know what it is about her but I'm not a fan of Claire Foy. This is the third film with her in this year and none of them have hit the spot. Out of the three this one in my favourite, there's something a little less irritating about her on-screen presence. Perhaps it's that the character of Lisbeth is naturally awkward.
When I saw Stephen Merchant in the trailer I'm not going to lie, I was a little concerned. I find him amusing and generally enjoy his hop across the pond to movies and TV. Those have mostly got a comedic lean to them though. This roll however had none and I'm not really sure it suited him. He's still got those slightly oddball characteristics that don't really fit in such a serious movie.
Sadly I don't feel like there's much more I want to say about The Girl In The Spider's Web apart from mentioning the James Bond vibes you get from everything from the opening credits to, well, the general feel of the whole thing.
What you should do
It's certainly not a waste of time watching it, definitely catch it when it hits streaming or the TV.
Movie thing you wish you could take home
Some amazing IT/hacking skills wouldn't go amiss in my day to day life.

The Christmas Blessing is a really good book. It had me emotional throughout the book. This shows the sad and the happy. It deals with a young woman with her son. The young woman thinks here soon to be husband has died and so do his parents.
Will the Bentley accept Amelia and her son? Amelia does something to help her son Jimmy? She cares about her son. Amelia sees Jimmy family putting together a Nativity the day after Thanksgiving. She worries about her son and that he is sick. She does something and the family finds him.
We meet James Bentley and what happened to him for sure. There a sweet ending and I do not want to give it away. Carlson does a good job writing the plot and it was done nicely. There some sweet moments and some teary moments.
It a great Christmas story and it is sweet. I loved it.

Not Everyone is a Dancer
The best thing Marvel has done yet is hire James Gunn to direct the Guardians of the Galaxy series. He has such a spectacular vision for the Guardians and their far-flung place in the MCU. He keeps the action and laughs rolling throughout this second volume of the series, and I honestly can't decide which of the two I like more. These movies have made instant pop-culture icons out of lesser known comic book heroes, and for good reason. The characters are all well written, with completely disparate personalities that lead them to interact with each other in often hilarious ways. Not only that, but they are all completely badass. It's going to be a real treat to see this ragtag group of the galaxy's biggest assholes go toe-to-toe with Thanos alongside the rest of the MCU heroes in Infinity War.

Purrfectly Fun Return Visit
It’s opening day for Maddie James’ new cat café on Daybreak Island. However, the day has hardly started when Adele, one of her volunteers, gets into a shouting match with socialite Holly over one of the cats. When Holly turns up dead, naturally Adele becomes a suspect. Maddie is sure the police are missing something. Can she figure out what it is?
I love the setting of this series. Daybreak Island is a place I’d love to visit – between the murders, of course. The mystery gets a bit sidetracked early on here due to some strong sub-plots, but I was enjoying those sub-plots as well, and things get back on track before too long with a surprising ending. The suspects are all strong, but it’s the main characters who made me excited to return to this series. They are all fantastic, and spending time with them was as enjoyable as spending time in the setting.
I love the setting of this series. Daybreak Island is a place I’d love to visit – between the murders, of course. A fun family movie.
Here’s a film that is not trying to be anything other than a fun and much needed summer outing for families. Disney used to do this sort of live-action family film thing so well in the 70’s and 80’s, before they got obsessed with pointless recreations of their cartoon classics.
The director is James Bobin, who’s formerly directed a number of the Muppet movies, and this movie breathes with the same sense of anarchic fun without being too up itself.
The film occasionally makes you cringe, with some dreadfully (and deliberately) naff songs, but I enjoyed it and for the right audience (kids 8 to 12) I think they’ll have a blast.

I remember going to see Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014.
I had no clue what to expect, and did wonder how the space-faring sheenanigans would fit into the (then) relatively grounded MCU.
Groot stole to show.
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2, in 2017?
That belonged to Yondu "he may be your father, kid, but he certainly wasn't your daddy".
Both of those films largely revolved around Chris Pratt's Star-Lord and Zoe Saldana's Gamora.
Volume 3 - again helmed by James Gunn, after a period where he was in Disney's black book due to some old, now deleted, tweets - moves away from that (although it does form one of the sub-plots, following the events of Endgame), instead focusing more on Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon, exploring his (somewhat harrowing) origins as a disposable experiment by the so-called High Evolutionary.
This, IMO, is quite possibly the best Marvel movie since "No Way Home".

Just as fun as the first
Oh man. This movie was just as great as the original. I've heard it didn't get great reviews because it wasn't much different than the first, but why does it need to be much different? The first was a hilarious spy movie romp in an almost parody of James Bond movies, and this one was no different. With improbably back-from-the-dead characters, an amazing cameo by Elton John, and the fantastic fight choreography and cinematography of the first film, this one was a winner in my book. It was only marred by some unexpected character deaths that I am very sad about.
It took me a moment to place Eggsy's girlfriend - since she was only in the last like ten minutes of the first movie - but I was utterly delighted when I realized who she is. I was very happy to see that she wasn't just a throwaway character like so many Bond girls.
If you enjoyed the first one, you'll also enjoy this one. I'm hoping there will be a third, as there's still hope for something from this one to not be quite as it seems. And they could rectify that in a third movie.

Dark Pleasures (Pure/ Dark Ones #4) by Aja James
Dark Pleasures is the fourth book in the Pure/Dark Ones, and we reunite with Sophia as she starts off the story. I have to admit to loving her little synopses, and can't wait for her story to be told in its entirety.
Back to this one, we have Devlin - our gentlemanly hero from a time gone by, plus Grace, who is on the Asperger's Spectrum. You wouldn't think these two would mesh very well, but be prepared to be surprised. Devlin is very smooth, courteous, chivalrous, whilst Grace is brash, almost harsh, in her lack of emotions. Whilst it can be jarring (for Devlin as well as the reader), it makes for excellent reading.
This story was well-written, with a smooth pacing, and plenty of action and intrigue to keep you turning the pages. There is also plenty of information given for the overall story arc, plus other characters who haven't had their turn yet. The world-building is excellent, and I can't wait to read more. Absolutely recommended by me.
