I think my expectations were too high going into this film. Yes, I laughed, some of the bits were fairly amusing. By far, Jason Isaacs and Rupert Friend were my favorite. Though, Jason Isaacs wasn't in it enough for my liking. I did laugh out loud, which doesn't happen often.

Michael Palin
Just watched on Netflix rather good comedy rather dark political comedy about the communism and the death of Stalin with a cast of well known actors a who's who of British and American greats to watch the likes of Michael Palin and Steve buscemi sharing screen time just great. needed more Jason Isaacs still good film

Hello to Jason Isaacs
Just discovered this series on Netflix after Jason Isaacs was on a chat show talking about it.
I’d describe it as having the atmosphere of Stranger Things but a totally different subject.
A blind girl is abducted but returns able to see. As she adjusts back into her previous life she begins to tell the story of her captivity. But she also talks about her previous life even before she was blind.
And there’s a great baddie in it too.
I’m 4 episodes in and totally intrigued.....

A satirical look at the events surrounding the death of Stalin
I enjoyed this satirical look at the events surrounding the death of Stalin in 1953. It was superbly acted especially by Steve Buscemi and Jason Isaacs, both made me laugh at many places I probably shouldn't have been laughing. The scary part is that most of the more unbelievable parts of this film very likely happened in real life.

Needs more Jason Isaacs
This film has one of the best ensemble casts I've seen in a long time. There are some fantastic actors in this from both sides of the pond, and there isn't a single one that I'd criticise. The film itself isn't hilarious, but it is pretty funny and raises quite a few laughs. Its an ingeniously satirical take on the death of Stalin, and I'd love to see similar historical events re-enacted in the same manner, as it'd make them a lot more entertaining. It flits from scene to scene very quickly & it can be a little difficult to follow what's going on, but I don't think that really matters. For me though, the best thing about this film was Jason Isaacs. His general with a Yorkshire accent was absolutely hilarious, and I just wish he'd been in this film a lot more, as I probably would've rated it higher if he was.

"All children grow up. Except one"
Live action version of JM Barrie's famous tale of the Boy who Never Grew Up, casting Jason Isaacs in the dual role of Mr Darling/Captain Hook, which makes me wonder is Captain Hook supposed to be the sterner side of their father, as seen through children's eyes!

Great stand in presenters
fantastic movie review show.
I love this podcast. flappy hands and teenager (Mark and Simon respectively) are great presenters. I always love the Kermodian rants and Simon's dry humour. Mark is always very informative about movies and movie related subjects. Simon is brilliant at reading out listeners emails. Also there are a lot of in jokes that have appeared over the years that make you feel part of a community when you're out and about and hear someone say something from the show and you know where it's come from like "Hello to Jason Isaacs". I couldn't recommend it highly enough. And with that TTOFADWTN. And HTJI.

Heart of a Soldier
Soldier- is a goid sci-fi action film. I like how kurt russell's charcter is mute for like most of the movie. He only says a few lines and thats it.
The plot: Todd (Kurt Russell) has been trained since birth, through brutal conditioning, to be an emotionless killing machine. After 40 years, Todd and his comrades are deemed obsolete when Col. Mekum (Jason Isaacs) promotes a new breed of genetically flawless soldiers. Discarded on the trash-covered planet of Arcadia 234, Todd is rescued by colonists Mace (Sean Pertwee) and Sandra (Connie Nielsen) -- but he's soon forced to face his stronger replacements when the military seeks to wipe out the colony.
Its a good movie.

I must admit, I'm not overly familiar with Chinese cinema, but I really hope that a boyband music video immediately playing alongside the end credits is the norm - it really tops off this surreal experience.
Everything in this movie is completely over dramatic, from the characters in general, to the hugely cliché ridden action script. The CGI flits rapidly between being half decent to dodgy as fuck. Jason Isaacs adopts an uncomfortably out of place South African accent, and the action scenes are so so. And in all honesty, I low key enjoyed it. It might dumb natural disaster fodder from Simon "Con Air" West, but I would happily take this over the 2012's of this world in a heartbeat. Skyfire is average at worst, and wonderfully silly at best.

Not as we have known it
Knockabout SF action series that's strong on bonkers pulp fiction ideas - mushroom-powered star drives, evil duplicates, 'species reassignment surgery', and so on - but less impressive when it comes to narrative cohesion or actually resembling anything previously released under the Star Trek banner.
Theses could and probably have been written about the myriad ways in which Discovery cheerfully ignores or rewrites continuity from previous series and movies; a more serious problem is the generally dark tone, emphasis on military conflict, and absence of humanistic optimism. Effects are okay; Doug Jones is the best thing in it as peril-averse first officer, though pushed hard by Jason Isaacs as loose-cannon captain of the ship. Not actively bad on its own terms, I expect, but very disappointing as an actual piece of Star Trek.
