"I know this is Joseph Campbell for Girls, but when you remember that the Star Wars Trilogy started the popular version of Campbell’s hero’s journey, and that women other than Princess Leia speak for 63 SECONDS of the films’ 386 MINUTES, then, boy oh boy, do we need this great, smart, empowering womanopedia of myth and what to do with it."

"My mother gave me this book when I was a teenager keen on following in the footsteps of my chef brother, Joseph. It is a leather-bound book with gold-embossment on the cover, the photography is magnificent and mouth-watering, and it’s full of great stories and classic recipes from around the world. It’s mandatory reading for our culinary team at TAK Room."

Mary and Joseph deal with the fallout of getting married despite the fact that Mary is pregnant. However, with the political forces in play, what danger might they face. This was a slow moving book. The fictional characters were interesting, but it wasn't enough to save the book.

Stick with it
Don't give up after a few episodes, it does get better. The show is slow to start and tb. Story takes a long time to develop, but it an easy watch and good fun in places. Very strange, twisted religion, Sci-fi type show, with some good laughs, worth watching Joseph gilgun who is brilliant throughout

This is, essentially, as straight re-telling of the Easter story, as seen through the eyes of a Roman centurion (Joseph Fiennes) who was present at the crucifixion of Christ and then put in charge of finding his body when it disappears from the tomb, initially believing that body to have been stolen by the disciples but then coming to believe otherwise and joining the disciples in Galilee before going his own way.

Murder Among the Mormons
Murder Among the Mormons
2021 | Crime, Documentary
Interesting, but somewhat repetitive
True crime docs are my jam, and when I read the synopsis for this one, I was game.
It covers weird bombings having to do with Mormon documents, which turn out to probably be not-so Mormon. It's definitely an interesting case, but even at three episodes, it seems to drag on.
Also - I had that South Park Joseph Smith song playing in my brain the whole time.

Josephine Jones has just move to the big city and is in need of a job. She finds one where her job is to input information into a database. She will sit in an office with smudged pink walls, in a building with no windows. Her only job is to enter the information and don't ask questions. But curiosity is a part of human nature. Will she be able to continue the job when she discovers what it is she is really doing?

Thank you to NetGalley and Henry Holt for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Josephine and Joseph Jones have left the hinterland(the place they call home) for the big city. I'm not sure what city they are in or what kind of people Josephine and Joseph are. Sometimes Josephine calls Joseph by a number 041-74-3400. They jump around their new city from sublet to sublet, each with one disgusting trait or another. Like black bubbling coming from the bathtub and gray sheets on the futon that were at some time in their life white.

This was a short story that captivated my attention, but also had me confused. There didn't seem to be enough time to tell the background of the story or develop the characters enough to really get to know them. There wasn't a name to the city they were living in and Josephine constantly refers to her boss as "The Person with Bad Breath". Overall this book was pretty good and I would read more by this author.

Sometimes it isn’t easy to write a review of a novel that is always one of the first to come to mind when someone asks what is my favorite book of all-time favorite. But since this is my 300th blog post (already?), I thought the time was due to write about Joseph Heller’s iconic novel, Catch-22. Annie is the brains behind the Bad Bachelor website. It has brought a myriad of emotions to women around NYC and beyond. Some people are for the site and others want her to shut it down for ruining lives. Either way Annie knows it is helping most women navigate the dating world and she doesn’t want to take that away from them. She has firmly stayed out of the dating world since her relationship ended years ago when she chose her family over her relationship. Joseph is never far from her thoughts but that is as close as she wants him, until she knocks him into a pond by accident.

Joseph has returned home again after making a name for himself overseas. He hasn’t stopped thinking about Annie much over the years, as his ex fiancé can attest to. He is hoping to get a chance to have a good heart to heart with her and apologize for leaving her the way he did. While contemplating his thoughts at their spot by the pond he literally bumps into his past.

Annie and Joseph didn’t have a great conversational past and they both fully admit it. Now that they’ve gotten a second chance will they make the best of it this time or fall back into their old habits? Annie doesn’t want to fall back into her past, especially while she is being threatened by someone over the Bad Bachelors website but she needs Joseph’s help to find out who is behind the threats.

Bad Influence is the third book in the Bad Bachelor series and a great continuation of the storylines. I received an advance copy from Netgalley without expectation for review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own. A 4 ½ star read, personally I found some slower parts to the story but overall a very good read. You don’t have to read in any order as each is a standalone but if you want background on the other 2 main couples and/or the website I would recommend starting with book one, Bad Bachelor.

This is only the second of M.J. Arlidge's books starring DI Helen Grace that I have read but the eighth in the series however I don't feel it absolutely necessary to have read them all as this stands up well on its own.

What a great story this is with scenes of peril, suspense, graphic descriptions of the aftermath of gruesome murders, twists, turns and red herrings, with fantastic and interesting characters especially DI Grace and the introduction of a new character, DS Joseph Hudson [I am very interested to see how their relationship develops in future stories] and all wrapped up in a great mystery set in the beautiful setting of The New Forest ... what more could you want?

Definitely recommended to fellow readers who don't mind a bit of blood mixed with action ... M.J. Arlidge does not disappoint with this book and my thanks go to the Publisher, Penguin UK - Michael Joseph via NetGalley for providing me with a copy in return for an honest review.

I am currently reading this and enjoying it ... I have read the whole series and I agree you don’t have to read them in order however to get the insight into the lead character Helen Grace you need to read them in order x
