A woman's story of abuse, multiple personalities, and coming to find The Troop.
"To escape the horror of violent abuse, the two-year-old child "went to sleep" and created the inner world of "the Troops," the 92 voices that shielded her from pain, but that she didn't know existed until adulthood. this is a journey through the fragmented world of the multiple personality-told by the Troop."-Amazon.com.

Rachel Howser Roberts (96 KP) rated American Gods in Books

Mythology
One of my top 10
This novel was one of the most original works I have read. It combines mythology from all over the world into an epic journey within the dirty underside of the melting pot that is America. The main characters are well fleshed out. An interesting aspect of the book is the “coming to America” chapters that give the backstory on how the old gods in the novel came to be in America. This novel definitely focuses more on the journey to get to the climax rather than the climax itself.

Ross (3284 KP) rated The Black Shriving in Books

The action continues straight on from where the Path of Flames left off. The story follows Tiron and Audsley's journey after they step through the mysterious portal, Asho and Kethe's journey into the mountains to investigate the second Black Gate, and Tharok's attempts to unite the kragh tribes and make an assault on the humans.
The story rarely dips in terms of excitement but does start to follow a number of different paths and take on different paces. While there is exciting action as Asho and Kethe take on the demon hordes, there are moments of tense political debate and planning, and Audsley's exploration of Starkadr is of a different thrilling pace altogether.
More of the greater plot is starting to be revealed as the humans banished from Ennoia start to plot their return to the world and the kragh start to plot their assault on that very same world.
The story really developed over this book with different threads and plots forming and diverging, different aspects of the magic and mysticism of the world being explored and revealed, the very religion of the world being challenged and I am looking forward to seeing how these come together later on.

What an amazing journey
This book is amazing I really enjoyed it it’s about an older gentleman who lost his wife a year before and has retreated into his own world and routines instead of grieving. While cleaning out her things, he finds something of his wife’s that he never seen before which leads him on an amazing journey where he finds things out that he never knew about his wife and about himself that leads him to open himself up to the world and people in it.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Station Eleven in Books
Jan 12, 2018
[Station Eleven] is a literary tale of the end of civilization. Unlike most of the novels about the post apocalyptic world [Emily St. John Mandel] weaves a story built of relationships. It would compare to a futuristic [Canterbury Tales] as it tells the tales of the survivors in this one band and their journey.
