American Western remake of Yojimbo, and a damn good one.
See this movie, it's worth it, but th reason it's a 9, and not a ten is because the Samurai version by Akira Kurosawa; Yojimbo is just better. If you can see that one first, if not follow it up and prepare to see two master storytellers use the same idea in two different genres, kinda like hearing a Nirvanna song being done by Johnny Cash. or an Alicia Keys version of a Cher song. Fundamentally the same, but so different in presentation. Both are epic masterpieces.

Amazing film
Don't be put off thinking this is just another cheesey chick flick, that would be an unjust insult. This is a very well made film with a great story of true love standing the test of time. The acting, score, cinematography and the 40's theme costumes and sets really show this is a very well produced film. It might be obvious from early on what is going to happen but it doesn't stop the journey being any less fun. If you liked the romance side of Titanic and Pearl Harbour you will like this a lot.

The First Purge (2018) feels like the #SnyderCut of Childish Gambino's "This Is America" #Review
What better viewing choice on the 4th of July than the latest instalment in the satirical horror series, one that goes back to the beginning and commemorates the very start of the decline of the land of the so-called free? “The First Purge” sets out to explain just how a society could come to adopt such a monstrous idea in the first place, a question which feels less and less difficult to answer with each passing day...

The doctor getting shot and killed immediately after walking out the TARDIS into gang territory in America is just priceless (1 more)
All the ridiculous extra rooms in the TARDIS like why does the Tardis have a giant ancient dungeon in there
The cringy leftover Terminator 2 special effects (0 more)
It's a hell of a lot bigger on the inside
Overall the movie is very weak and does a poor job of capturing the magic of Doctor Who and why British audiences love it

But it has enough weirdness and ridiculousness that any Doctor Who fan should watch it

A strange film, that seems totally random at times. It has a bit of an insight to the lives of a range of people in early 80's LA. From the spoilt rich kids, drugged up pop star, shady ex-con and a news reporter. The stories are very loosely interwoven. This is far from being anything like Crash though! There doesn't seem to be much of a plot to it at all or any conclusion. Just a brief look at their lives full of sex, drugs and 80's pop. A shame given the very strong cast list!

Awesome book! I was new to the series but knew this could be read as a standalone. After this, I'll surely be going back for more! Really loved the characters.. Bronx was a sweetheart and I loved Ryan to death.. tough as nails and determined to find out the truth about her past, she lives numb for years trying to get close enough to the one person who can tell her the truth. What she finds out is nothing like she ever expected. Excellent writing with an interesting storyline that just drags you in from the start!

Lee (2222 KP) created a post in Smashbomb Feedback

Nov 29, 2018
I'm so used to just scrolling past it every time I visit Smashbomb, but today I thought I'd stop and ask about it - I'm talking about the 'Recommended For You' box. I don't know how everyone else feels about it but I'd personally like the ability to disable it if possible. I can't work out how it is generated as I can't see any way of recommending something to somebody when I'm reviewing it, yet lots of people seem to have recommended things to me. If anyone can give me a bit more info on it that would be much appreciated!

Hi @Lee - thanks for the feedback!

I would like to know what anybody else thinks to the 'Recommended For You' box, and what you might prefer to see in there as an alternative?

Thanks ?

Yes I have mentioned this before also. Not a fan of recommended for you especially since I have rated so many items. Is there a way to combine these two requests (lee's and Sarah's) and put maybe a "What have you missed?" section kind of the way Twitter does? I like that feature there since I don't use Twitter every day.

Trying to be high tech on a low budget (0 more)
Weak follow up
5 years after the original film we have a surprise sequel. The first film was OK but hardly a stand out film. This and a 3rd film were shot close together. The plot is rather silly but you expect that. I didn't like the design of the prison this time. Trying to make it look high tech and automated... With a lot of neon lights. It just looks very low budget. A few good fight scenes but little else. A shame when you look at the cast list.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this book need a teensy bit less than #9 but i can't really put my finger on why.

Sukey and Vicky see a suspicious man passing off an envelope and then he dies in a car crash that seems very suspicious.

A head found on the beach is connected and our friends s and V are on the case .

I don't know, this one just seemed a lot more slow going for me.

I like it a lot, though!

Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind was such a wonderful documentary. I'm sure if he was still here he'd make a sexual joke about the title. At first the tears were from laughter, but by the end they were from pure heartache and sadness. It truly breaks my heart knowing a man like himself who brought so much joy to others through his life was in the end hurting so terribly. I just want to reach through the screen and give him the sincerest of hugs. Let's all keep that spark of madness we each have lit for him. Nanu nanu.
