I wanted to like it, I really did.
Okay my low rating isn't because it was necessarily a bad comic because it wasn't, it had some really awesome parts and I love the super group so much but it was like Millar saw how much people loved the violence, myself included, and kind of just went so overboard with it in this volume that it really took away from the story because it was just violence for the sake of violence the hyper violence this time around just didn't add anything to the story and one instance really was just cringe worthy and honestly ruined the rest of the comic for me.

So as much as I wanted to like this one I just didn't.

"I can say that, in thinking about it, I was thinking five favorite-ish movies that seemed to be relatively inspiring to me as a filmmaker or something like that. One is a movie called Bad Taste by Peter Jackson. The reason that movie is one of my favorite films is because… two things. One, I saw it when I was very young because it had a very sort of provocative box cover of an alien giving you the middle finger, in the video store; that was very charming to me. It seemed like something that needed to be rented for a sleep over. It’s one of the grossest movies ever, so it was always the benchmark of, like, “Is there a more disgusting movie than this?” And also not a lot of people had seen it so it was like a badge of honor. But more importantly, when I decided that maybe movies was something I wanted to do, that movie was actually the first movie that I think made me think I could maybe do this. Because it was the first time I’d ever seen a movie where I realized how the movie was made. And I realized, “He’s just putting a camera on the back of the car;” “Oh, that’s just him with his friend doing this;” and, “I can see how he built that effect” or “I can see how he used ketchup for blood” or whatever. It was so rough around the edges, yet still compelling and well-made that it kind of gave me this sort of inspiration and confidence to be like, “All I have to do is go do it, like this guy just went and did it.” So that movie is, like, the number one movie that made me think, “Maybe I can try this.”"

"I love that movie. I watch that one over and over and over again. I love that one. The costumes, the people… even though the people… like Keanu Reeves, he may not be the greatest actor, but you don’t even realize that when you’re watching it — it’s like you’re so sucked into the world of the romance, and the visuals that are just so rich and decadent. And it makes you wanna live that life, you know. It makes you wanna live in a castle somewhere where you only use candles for lighting."

"I used to be really homesick as a kid. I never had sleepovers or anything like that with my friends ever, because I would have panic attacks and wanna go home. And then I watched Up In the Air, and watching George Clooney pack his suitcase so neatly and hop on the plane and just be so organized made me wanna travel by myself and made me love hotels and stuff like that. And I just love the movie as well. It gave me the courage to travel by myself for the first time and leave home. The thing that kinda sucks is that I have a feeling that if I was to rewatch it now, it would be depressing. At the time that I watched it for the first time, it was ambitious – I wanted to travel all the time like that and I thought it was so cool. And then, as you know, the movie gets kind of dark and sad and it’s like, “What are you running from?” At the time that didn’t apply to me, but now I wonder if I would watch it back and be like, “Oh god, this is really too real.”"

"The way their styles went back and forth was some sick street shit. Their beats were ill and they had like a slur, a slang style going on that resonated with so many people on the street. When I first heard 'You're A Customer' I was hooked; every single record was so tight and so completely banging. I think they had four or five gold records in a straight row which was such an incredible achievement. They were on some ill roll that just continued. They also listened to the dopest shit too and you could tell that from listening to their music. As well as being influenced by so much themselves, they influenced a lot of people too. Bands like us, Public Enemy, Run-D.M.C were just talking about EPMD so much. Back then, you had to make music that sounded real because if you didn't, people just saw straight through that shit. Most motherfuckers didn't make it but then artists like EPMD showed you how."

"I’m going to put The Apartment on there. Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon. You know, Billy Wilder is just one of my favorite filmmakers ever. That movie is one that has grown with me. That’s another movie that I definitely saw as a child and have felt differently about as I’ve gotten older. Its really about two lonely people and it’s so sweet and so funny, and the score — I think it’s the Charles Williams orchestra that does the score on that. I’m not going to get that right, but the score is just so, so beautiful. I feel like I can just hear the refrain of that and cry. I think it’s really a perfect movie."

NOOOOOO!!! It's over. That's bad because I have no idea when the next book comes out. The end...it is just hanging there mocking me. I can't wait to see how it turns out for Mare Barrow, but it looks like I'm going to have to do just that. Ugh.

Brightburn was just okay for me. I thought I'd enjoy it more than I did. To me, it felt like it was just a snippet of everything that was actually going on, and then it was over. I'd say it's still worth watching, but it's not a very involved plot.

Red Dawn (1984)
Red Dawn (1984)
1984 | Adventure, Drama
This movie was just not it for me. I know that the "gore" level is supposed to be for emphasis and drama but it just is so unrealistic, it's hard to stay with the story. I think the star in this film is Lea Thompson and her beauty radiates off the screen and her character is one I really loved.

I think the plot of the film is interesting, I like that it's set in Colorado as that's where I'm from, but I just couldn't believe that if the Soviets were going to attack the United States that they'd start in a rural Coloradan town. That just seems ridiculous and counterproductive.

Overall, I think I'm really stuck on the fundamentals of the film and that's what made this movie just not great for me.

So many things wrong with this novel. I will review more completely later, just know that Shanna is a spoiled brat who deserves to be horsewhipped especially when she was treated like a princess by Ruark...
