"Ahh, it's gorgeous. The images I have, just putting it on on a Saturday morning. There's something always very quiet and leisurely about a Saturday morning, and again, it's just a complete album. I like the bass sound, it's a slightly more modern sound, and the brilliant execution, the mastery of it – I would say to anybody, just have that album, put it on and relax."

"Why this one over Here Comes The Warm Jets? Well, the obvious thing would be to go with stuff like that. Everything Eno does is great, but I like this one because it's a poppy record. It's a bit of a progression from Here Come The Warm Jets, which is a bit tied to glam - it's a bit of a hangover from Roxy Music. Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) moves away from that a little bit, and it's just completely bonkers. I think his singing and his lyrics are brilliant. It's also where A Certain Ratio got their name from - and that made me think, 'Ah, A Certain Ratio, they must be alright'. It's just lovely. It's sinister glam rock; there's nothing terribly glamorous about it. It's more like glam rock in Korea or China - I just like the idea of him using little Communist party references in there. Glam rock was basically seedy anyway, there's no getting away from that, but this was putting it in an interesting context."

A Man is Bored
Watched this last night with my wife. About half way through, she asked if I liked it. I said "Not really." She laughed & said the same. There's no question that Lady Gaga is talented. Every time she sang, her voice gave me chills. Her acting is fine too. I like Bradley Cooper, but his singing is just not that good & his bad accent in this film just takes away any believability. That aside, I found the film boring. There is definite chemistry between the two stars, but I never felt any connection to any of the characters. It felt rushed. Everything happened too fast & I never felt like there was enough character development for me to like anyone. And for a movie over 2 hours, there should have been some sort character development. Without that, and without caring, the movie felt empty. When it was over, I was like, "Well, so what?" I still give it 5 out of 10, just to hear Gaga.

"For number five, I’m just going to say Big Fish, which Tim Burton directed. I think that’s one that sons and fathers can connect to. So that’s a real tear-jerker, but also I just love the acting in it. I love how it looks. I love Tim Burton movies. And, yeah, that one was pretty great. I will sit and watch that when or if it’s on, even though I’ve seen it like two dozen times."

Weird, just weird
1st time that I've watched one of the Studio Ghibli films and I've got to be honest it wasnt my cup of tea. Bit like the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe, with a different storyline arc. Very strange and a bit of a mind trip.
Like I say, not for me, but lots of people love it. 8/9 for some. Just a 6 for me

Meh...
First off, some of the stories in this book were good. A lot of them were confusing. Maybe it’s just me. I don’t know how to describe how they were confusing. It’s just that sometimes I didn’t know what was going on. Like I said, maybe that was just me. This book did hold my attention for the most part though.

I would still recommend this book to others as they may enjoy it.

Sunset Boulevard (1950)

"This is a film — and this is kind of going away from this relationship theme — but this is a film that, when I was little, I loved. I mean, I’ve loved it my whole life. I don’t know what that says about me, but I loved Sunset Boulevard. I was a big old-movie fan when I was, you know, older than most people should be when they’re older-movie fans. [Gloria Swanson is] just so spectacular in that film and it sort of formed my idea of that raw, dramatic acting. And the writing… The writing in that movie is unbelievable. So many incredible one-liners. It’s one of those movies that you can watch now and you’re just, like, “Damn, that was a good line,” you know? Like, God, that was some good writing back then. The thing is that movies written that way wouldn’t fit in, really, these days. It would sound strange, like you couldn’t really do it now. But thank God we have them."

"I guess I’d have to say This Is Spinal Tap. I don’t know that many movies made me laugh as hard as that did — the first few times I saw it, anyway. I haven’t seen it in a while, but I know that at some point I will watch it again and laugh anew at it. That movie is just so brilliant. It captures something from a period in rock and roll that, even though I wasn’t there, it just feels so right. It feels like, “Oh, yeah, this is based on something real.” That time in rock and roll, and these guys are not that far off from real rock and rollers of a certain band. And it’s just brilliant. I mean, it’s just so well done, and just so funny. I mean, they were such an amazing team: Michael McKean, and then Rob Reiner directing, and Christopher Guest. You know, it’s a masterpiece, a comedy masterpiece."

The Godfather: Part II (1974)
The Godfather: Part II (1974)
1974 | Crime, Drama

"I have to say Godfather Part II, because the thing I love about Godfather Part II is Godfather Part I was one incredible story filled with incredible performances, deep psychological examinations of what it’s like to be in that position of authority, and the struggle with that and the conflict of all the stuff we see with most good gangster films, really. You get that in one story in The Godfather Part I. I think in The Godfather Part II, there’s two stories like that. That’s what I love the most about it. It’s two wonderful gangster movies in one, and the richness of that, the way that they flip between those two stories, is something very, very special. It’s like two amazing movies in one movie. It would’ve been Godfather I, but the fact that Godfather II is two great movies in one movie just means it’s an embarrassment of riches. It’s just one of the greatest films of all time."

Jumanji (1995)
Jumanji (1995)
1995 | Action, Comedy, Family

"Going a little more lighthearted, number three is the original Jumanji, which is so cheesy because I was in the remake, but that was always one of my favorite films of all time. It’s just pure nostalgia. I think I’m right in that age bracket where it’s like a classic to anyone who’s around my age, and anyone who’s outside of that, it doesn’t seem like it’s so much of a classic to them. Loved it."
