Josh Burns (166 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Godzilla in Video Games

Gameplay: It is fun, but does get repetitive after a while. There is no real story so it's best played for a while, and back off once it feels repetitive and come back later. Basically, you smash cities and generators, gaining G Energy which makes your Kaiju grow in size and power. Or, you protect them, while fighting kaiju and increasing human military forces.
content: you can unlock almost any monster seen in any Godzilla movie as well as bios for each. You can level them up and unlock figures and settings to build dioramas also. It has multiple game modes but they don't vary from each other a lot. There is also PVP online, but since the critics shredded it so bad there aren't many players so matchmaking is a nightmare.
overall: it's a lot of fun with a ton of content to unlock, just don't burn yourself out on it. I play for like a month here and there, have a blast, then back off for a while so it doesn't get stale.

What can I say? The gameplay is beautiful, simple, fun and quick (despite the terrible rulebook which is stupidly overcomplicated).
The playing pieces, figures of 4 kaiju, Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra and Megalon are a decent size and of a great quality. The design for the game overall is superb!
Now the main downside, the vehicle and small building tokens. While large buildings have plastic 3D tokens, the vehicles and small buildings are all cardboard, and as it shows them from an aerial view, it's usually pretty unclear as to what they are.
Also, Funko Games, this game desperately needs some expansions featuring other kaiju. The base game is great, but it would be great to play the game with Mechagodzilla, Biollante, King Kong, Rodan, so many great kaiju that could add some great twists to the game!

BUT this movie did promise one thing, more Kaiju more Godzilla instead of the pitiful 10 minutes screen time on our last outing. boy did it deliver of the Kaiju battles in spades.
That’s all I wanted was to see Godzilla battle it out with Mothra, Ghiadora and whoever else, just take me back to my childhood and give me epic scale monster fights. I felt this movie delivered that unapologetically so it’s a win.
Also I kinda love seeing Kyle Chandler in things.

Or, as they're called in this series (and elsewhere? I don't know) Kaiju and Jaegers respectively.
This is a sequel to the best non-Godzilla Godzilla movie (in all but name), this time starring Star Wars own John Boyega as its reluctant hero, as the son of the "we're cancelling the apocalypse" hero from the first move, and who gets drawn back into the whole military training around the Jaegers 10 years after the events of that last movie.
Just in time, then, for him to be in place as the undersea breaches reopen and more of those Kaiju to come through ...
Dumb fun, but seemingly lacking something (although you can actually see what's happening in the battles this time around!) compared to the original, or to the various 'official' Godzilla/King Kong/etc movies.
