Netgalley and the publisher provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
If you're looking for the grim dark n edgy that DC does to varying degrees of wellness this book is not for you.

If you want a silly romp that revels in outrageous fun and Easter eggs? This is your book!

Hiram Lodge wants to drain a swamp and build over it. Pamela finds out about this and gets Harley to join her in kidnapping Betty and Veronica.

Which would have worked out beautifully if not for Zatanna and Sabrina.

Oops!

I don't think I can properly express the joy this book brought me. It's absolutely delightful!

A good backstory
Although not officially Moore-approved, this six-issue collection gives a glimpse of the glitz and glamour of the original group of superheroes, before Watchmen. We get a short introduction to the members of the crew (most of which have their own volumes in the "Before Watchmen" series), and how they came about and interacted. Some amusing fails from their early attempts to foil justice (remember these aren't superheroes, these are guys who donned a costume and went looking for trouble), leading up to a case involving the kidnapping and murder of children.
I'm not a huge fan of the artwork here, being quite cartoony, but it seems to fit the era OK.

At first, I must admit, I wondered what a Sherlock Holmes story that had not been written by Arthur Conan Doyle would be like.

And then I listened to this.

Set in the 'traditional' Sherlock Holmes setting of late in Queen Victoria's reign (in this case, after Reichenbach Falls) - instead of the more contemporary setting popularised by TVs Sherlock - this did take me a bit to get into.

However, it is impeccably produced and acted - even if it relies quite heavily on flashbacks - taking in such key characters as Sherlock himself, Dr Watson, Sherlock's brother Mycroft and Professor Moriarty, in a mystery around the kidnapping of the Queen!
(I was never taught that in school …)

Rust & Stardust is based on the real-life kidnapping of 11-year-old Sally Horner in 1948. Desperate to appease her friends, Horner is pressured into stealing a notebook from a local shop. At this time, she has no idea she's being watched by Frank LaSalle, who abducts her after pretending to be an FBI agent.

This story is disturbing, heart-breaking, and such a mind-blowing historical novel. It really is the kind of book parents should NOT read because it's likely to send them over the edge (or maybe make them more vigilant? who knows.) Though it was not a happy book, I still enjoyed it's historical side and would definitely recommend to my friends.

Nothing New
I've seen specials on this kidnapping case before, and most of them were slanting towards the parents doing something to their daughter. I watched the first two episodes and noticed it was going at a snails pace. Netflix seriously took 8 episodes to tell us absolutely nothing new. They could have cut it to 4 eps and it would have been much better. I did like that it showed more aspects and theories, but again, they amounted to nothing. It was also interesting to see that there were repercussions for the media reporting all of those crazy headlines. Some of the episodes used the same sections of interviews 2x, and I thought that I was having deja vu.

Michael Haller is surprised when he is asked by the LA District Attorney to retry an old case. A man convicted of kidnapping and murdering a 12-year-old 24 years ago needs to be retried because of new DNA evidence. He gets Harry Bosch as his investigator, and the two try to track down old witnesses and make their case stronger than before. Will it be enough?

This book is engaging from the first chapter with some surprise twists along the way. Seeing these two characters interact even more is very entertaining. I never wanted to stop reading and couldn't wait to get back to the story.

In the 9th installment of the Stepahnie Plum series Stephanie finds herself as the "prize" in a real-life game of murder. The players in this game are set up to hunt each other down by being given email clues from the Web Master an unknown person who directs the game & controls those who play it. Stephanie unknowingly thrusts herself into the game when she goes out to hunt down a guy who has bailed on his visa bond.
This book was much more suspensful than the last few in the series. There's lots of tasering, shooting, kidnapping, & bodyguarding. I figured out who the Web Master was with about 100 pages left to go...though I had my suspcisions earlier on. That didn't take away from the plot though.

Who remembers The English Patient? No one!
This is probably the first time anyone noticed The Coen Brothers. They had directed a few good movies before Fargo, but this one really put them on the map.

When this movie first came out, I told multiple people they should go see it, but I had a hard time explaining what it was about. It has a simple premise of a kidnapping gone wrong, but the characters screenplay and their accents are really what make the movie most memorable.

Frances McDormand, William H. Macy, Steve Buscemi and the rest of the cast are amazing.

I still can't believe this movie did not win. This film certainly has endured way better than The English Patient.

If you haven't seen, you must.

A underrated action horror film
From dusk till dawn- was directed by robert roderguiz and had a great cast.

The plot: the run from a bank robbery that left several police officers dead, Seth Gecko (George Clooney) and his paranoid, loose-cannon brother, Richard (Quentin Tarantino), hightail it to the Mexican border. Kidnapping preacher Jacob Fuller (Harvey Keitel) and his kids, the criminals sneak across the border in the family's RV and hole up in a topless bar. Unfortunately, the bar also happens to be home base for a gang of vampires, and the brothers and their hostages have to fight their way out.

A tv series was made back in 2014 and had 3 seasons.

From dusk till dawn- has horror, action and fantasy all mixed into one film. Overall its very underrated and more people should watch it.

Story: Kidnapping Freddy Heineken starts as we follow our five criminals Cor Van Hout (Sturgess), Willem (Worthington), Cat (Kwanten), Spikes (Eeuwen) and Brakes (Cocquerel) who have always been looking for a way to make money quickly instead of getting real jobs in Holland. Their latest plan is to kidnap beer tycoon Freddy Heineken (Hopkins) and collecting the ransom.

With the plan in place the kidnapping goes well the wait for the ransom is what takes the time and tests the strength of the kidnappers over the victims as we follow what could be the undoing of the men.

Thoughts on Kidnapping Freddy Heineken

Characters – Cor Van Hout is the leader of the gang, he brings his men together to complete the jobs with some failing and others not, he comes up with the latest job while his personal life is about to hit the highs a father could experience. Willem is the hot head of the group who will go past the marks to make the job get done and he could become the biggest problem involved. Freddy Heineken is the beer tycoon that has become the target of this men and he stays extremely calm through his ordeal trying to friend his kidnappers too.

Performance – Jim Sturgess is strong in the leading role of this film throughout feeling like the rest would listen to his every word. Sam Worthington is good in the loose cannon role too. Anthony Hopkins is as always the star of the show here as you want to see all of his scenes.

Story – The story is based on the true story of what happened when a group of criminals kidnap the tycoon and how they were not completely sure things would work and how things could go wrong. This is good because it doesn’t go down a slick as the best heist movies but is also calm enough to feel like it is based on real people human errors through the heist.

Action/Crime – There are a couple of good car chases through the film which do make up the action side of things while the whole story is about the crime being committed.

Settings – The streets involved in Amsterdam show us how tight the car chases can be and escape routes by more than just road, we do feel like this is authentic with how everything unfolds during the crime.

Scene of the Movie – Freddy’s orders.

That Moment That Annoyed Me – The clear choice for a problem is having some Dutch cast members but the leads are not.

Final Thoughts – This is one of the films that didn’t get much talk when it came out but I don’t understand why, it is an enjoyable and one film that is worth watching for all the heist fans out there.

Overall: Good heist film.
