This ain't no Wedding Crashers
Having just watched Bone Tomahawk (you must watch it) and learning writer/director S. Craig Zahler also helmed this film, I was even more anxious to see.
After Vince Vaughn loses his job, he is forced into a life as a drug runner. His big score goes wrong, he makes some tough decisions and ends up in prison. He is then manipulated and has to make even more intense decisions in order to make events happen in his favor.
Vaughn is believable as a tough, abrasive husband trying to save his family. His morality is questionable and you can't decide whether to root for him pr hate him. Don Johnson is also a standout as the warden.
I found it fascinating and exhilarating at the same time. Some of the fight scenes are maybe a little excessively violent, but that is the nature of prison life I imagine.
Zahler is slowly making a name for himself with these two films. He also has Dragged Across Concrete coming out later this year.
He hasn't reached Tarantino status quite yet, but he is off to a good start.

Emily (1430 KP) rated Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth in Video Games
Feb 18, 2020
Same basic premise as the other games in the Civ series, except this is set on a strange new world that ships from earth have escaped to.
Uses the hex grid of the other newer versions of the game and also has indigenous alien life on land and in the sea. This can be quite tough to deal with early in the game, particularly the worms (think Dune-style enormous things) and the sea life, but is easily dealt with later on. It alternatively you can try and work with it so you kind of become allies, although it's not easy to achieve.
The best thing about the game is the tech tree. Every other version of Civ has a branched linear progression, this one has a web. The first few moves are relatively common to all play styles but then you can just go anywhere and what you pick changes what type of faction you end up as (which ends up like a combination of religion and ideology of the other versions of Civ).
If you're getting bored with normal Civ, this is definitely a fun alternative.

Book Divas (227 KP) rated The Selection in Books
Dec 12, 2017 (Updated Dec 12, 2017)
I finally sat down to read this book and I freaking loved it so much that I had to read it all in a day because I simply refused to put it down.
A beautifully written story line that quickly found me endearing myself to America as she is someone people could actually look up to.
America does not want to sign up for the selection but her love interest Aspen asks her to do it so that later on in life there are no I wonder ifs and so she does it thinking that she won't be selected. However, she does and things quickly begin to change for her.
This emotionally charged read is fast paced, full of strong characters and the world building was enchanting. A story full of love, heartache, revelations and perseverance. Can't wait for the next book to arrive in the mail!

I was late to getting to know about this series, yet with saying that it is the first TV series which I was hooked on. In the first season we are introduced to Sam and Dean whose father is away on a hunting trip and has not returned and their mother was killed by a yellow eyed demon. Sam and Dean give up a normal life of going to collage and working in a garage and became hunters. They befriend various people along the way over the rest of the seasons , even becoming friends with an angel who will do anything to save the brothers from becoming human vessals for Lucifer and Michael. Longest running CW TV program out as the show is now in it's 13th season.

Fairy Tale: True Loves Kiss
Maleficent- is a movie that people are mix about. Some people hate it, some people love it. For me i like it. Its a different take on the oringal source materal but with the same elements.
The plot: As a beautiful young woman of pure heart, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) has an idyllic life in a forest kingdom. When an invading army threatens the land, Maleficent rises up to become its fiercest protector. However, a terrible betrayal hardens her heart and twists her into a creature bent on revenge. She engages in an epic battle with the invading king's successor, then curses his newborn daughter, Aurora -- realizing only later that the child holds the key to peace in the kingdom.
Angelina Jolie is really good as Maleficent and Elle Fanning is really good as Aurora.
It is a underrated movie and should be watched.

Haunted Forever
My Soul To Take- is a good slasher killer movie directed by Craven.
The Plot: In the small town of Riverton, a local legend tells of a serial killer's oath to come back and kill the seven children who were born on the night he supposedly died. Now 16 years later, Riverton residents are disappearing again, making some wonder if the legend is true. Bug (Max Thieriot), plagued by nightmares all his life, is one of the so-called Riverton Seven, and it's up to him to save his friends from an evil that will not rest.
The film's title comes from a line in the prayer "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep", which reads "If I shall die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take." The prayer features in the film.
Like i said its a good slasher killer movie.

Bong Mines Entertainment (15 KP) rated La2 - Single by Rami Salmi in Music
Jun 17, 2019
Rime Salmi is a Canada-raised singer-songwriter with Moroccan roots. Not too long ago, she released a celebratory afro-pop tune, entitled, “La2”, produced by Ghanaian super producer Willisbeat.
‘La2’ tells a liberating tale of a courageous young woman who decides to trust her own instincts, visions, and dreams—regardless of what people might say she should or shouldn’t do.
What she wants most in life is to surf in Agadir, have drinks in New York, and go on expensive trips that she can’t afford.
Later, she admits that nothing in life is guaranteed, only what we choose to be. Therefore, what she chooses is a life that she wants to live.
‘La2’ contains a relatable storyline, gorgeous vocals, and joyful instrumentation scented with an Afro-pop fragrance. Also, the likable tune possesses joyful melodies sprinkled with ethnic Arabic rhythms.
“‘La2’ (‘no’ in Arabic) is about saying ‘no’ to what was expected of us, what society says is acceptable or ‘normal’, especially as women. This song stems from my desire to pursue my passion and break free from boundaries set by a conservative Arabic background, especially what is expected of me as a woman. I’m choosing to pursue my goals. I’m choosing to say yes to my own gut feeling, my vision, my dreams, and the world I wanna create. I’m learning to say ‘no’ and live my life how I’m the happiest. ‘La2’ is a joyful anthem that I hope will inspire freedom and living out loud, and living now because it’s all we have.” – Rime Salmi
Rime Salmi was born to Moroccan parents and raised in Canada. She grew up a child of many cultures.
Her music became a way to channel her challenges in being torn between two cultures: her traditional Moroccan heritage and her western Canadian upbringing.
Also, her charisma shines through her high-energy stage performances, which combines belly dancing, afrobeat dancing, and powerful vocals.
