Dean (6925 KP) rated Versus (2000) in Movies
Jun 11, 2018
Really didn't live up to the hype. I was hoping for some wow factor in the film to show how the East does an action/horror film with lots of martial arts. This is all very low budget effects and the story isn't great at all. At the end I couldn't wait for the finish, dragged out to nearly 2 hours!

David McK (3233 KP) rated Star Wars: Ahsoka in TV
Oct 8, 2023
Disney+ have really been pushing their connection to Star Wars as of late: The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan, The Bad Batch.
All in the Disney+ era, as exclusives.
To this, we can now add Ahsoka.
Which is a strong contender for being the most 'Star Wars'y of the lot, if that makes sense.
It's also effectively a live-action sequel to perhaps one of the best Star Wars animations shows (Rebels), more or less picking up the plot lines from the end of that series after the disappearance of Thrawn and Ezra Bridger in the final episode of it.
So, in effect, we're also doing a live action "Heir to the Empire" (finallyl!!), with the return of Thrawn, alongside elements from the old E.U.: Zombie Stormtroopers, The Nightsisters of Dathomir, the Mortis Gods ...

Lenard (726 KP) rated Dumbo (2019) in Movies
Apr 1, 2019
While in some ways a strange marriage, Dumbo has several Tim Burton elements: an evil rich guy, Michael Keaton/Danny DeVito/Eva Green, outsiders, people who don't get a lot of sun even though they live in a traveling circus. The most Tim Burton thing about it is when Dreamland is engulfed in smoke surrounded by dark clouds and Nightmare Island. The rest of the film is mostly live action Disney. Dumbo has Bambi-like doe eyes and except for the evil wannabe tycoon the humans are sentimental and protective of the kids.
David McK (3233 KP) rated Pinocchio (2022) in Movies
Sep 11, 2022 (Updated Sep 11, 2022)
Disney's latest 'live-action' reworking of one of their previous animated films, although I think that description may be somewhat misleading as really the only 'live' person on the screen for the majority of the running time is Tom Hanks Gepetto!
Anyway, this does follow pretty much the same storyline as that earlier film, although - in this version, at least - here Pinocchio is more a victim of circumstance than an active participant than before (previously, he ignored the guidance of his conscience, Jiminy Cricket).
In line with modern sensibilities, the ending is also subtly different!

Well put together
Im a disnerd not going to lie and with all the live action remakes this was a welcomed animation, wouldnt say its as good as the first one however if you enjoy a family movie night i would definitely give it a go. As a family we enjoyed it alot. Plus you see the princesses in a different light which i enjoyed.

This Beauty is the Best
Everything worked, everything clicked. It stayed true to the original, which was nominated for Best Picture...and adds its own originality, maintaining the admired Disney charm. Disney has been around for nearly 100 years and I truly believe, having seen most of the films in its arsenal, that this is the best live action movie it has ever made.

Great casting
Perfect
As a huge disney fan I’m always sceptical about live action remakes (dont talk to me about Cinderella!) but this was amazing! The casting is perfect! Who knew Emma Watson could sing! I’m a big Potter fan too so was nervous about seeing ‘Hermione’ in this type of role, but was so pleased I liked it. Great film ?

Best video game adaptation ever
Watched this with my partner who is a huge pokemon fan, whilst I'm a fan but not as obsessed. We both loved the film, it's cheesy, it's incredibly funny and even with a predictable plot (It's a family film, I'm not bothered) I was still engaged with what was gonna on.
