A family film that still has a feel good feel to it...
A trainee witch is looking after a group of children in wartime Britain when her final lesson in witchcraft doesn't arrive... What follows is a search for the final spell on a magical bed... Trying to stop a German invasion and a fair bit of singing and dancing...

Angela Lansbury stars, in a role far removed from the character that she would later become famous for and puts in a great performance as the novice witch...

A live action and cartoon film that works really well when the two bend together, and is just the sort of film to bring a smile when things are getting you down...

Crazy Taxi 2004: The Game
Collateral- mixes action, suspense, thrills and Tom Cruise as the villian, that is unheard of. Cause he usually plays the hero/good guy. But in this movie he plays the villian.

The plot: After a long day, LA taxi driver Max is about to knock off when sharp-suited Vincent offers him $600 to make five stops. Sounds good until Vincent turns out to be a merciless hitman and each one of those stops involves a hit. As the night goes on, Max starts to wonder if he'll live to see the sunrise, as the pair are hunted by the police and the FBI.

Its a game of cat and mice, but in a cab. Its a excellent movie.

Aladdin (2019)
Aladdin (2019)
2019 | Adventure, Family, Fantasy, Musical
A great live action remake. The kids and I fully enjoyed this one. If you have to choose between this one and The Lion King remake, give The Lion King a miss. Aladdin does not skimp on the music, it even gives Princess Jasmine her own new powerful number. There is a strong Bollywood influence that creates a feast for the senses no matter what your age. Overall, Aladdin gifts us with more original content and developped characters whereas The Lion King remake played out like a less cute, uninspired carbon copy of its original. Robin Williams' genie was inimitable but Will Smith's own take is 'fresh' (geddit?) and just as charismatic in its own right. If you have kids, treat them to this.

Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
1976 | Action, Crime, Thriller
Assault on Precinct 13 is great for many reasons, but chiefly it's all down to the characters. Austin Stoker, Darwin Joston, and Laurie Zimmer head up a diverse cast, and off the top of my head, I struggle to think of a trio of leads that are so well realised and put together. Their struggle through an evening of violence is one you want them to live through.

The narrative is straightforward and engaging, the villains are pretty faceless but intimidating, the action is decent, the cinematography is visually pleasing, and director John Carpenter provides yet another banging soundtrack to one of his own films.
It's a gritty and hard hitting thriller that serves as further evidence for why Carpenter is one of the greatest.
