Hmmm...
I liked this but not a such as the previous two. I think that since I read the second book right before this that having to relive a lot of it again in the first half of this was rather annoying. It put me off a lot.
That being said, I do love Pick Ryan. And Eva. And the two babies--so adorable!!
Haven't decided whether to jump into Quinn's story straight away or not yet. Hmm...

Saw this so many years ago now but the music has stayed with me all these years. Great soundtrack, unusual setting of a train competition but based on a standard underdog story format. One of the most unique stage settings I've seen, then or since, as it wrapped around the balcony so the cast was coming around into the audience at various points. Really wish it was still running in the UK, I'd love to see it again!

Still in love with this series. It's completely different to anything else I've read, which is probably why I like it so much.
It's getting 5 stars for the romantic aspects of the story. Think it would only have been 4 stars if the romance hadn't gone up a level. I think they are a really nice couple and some of the scenes between them in this were almost heart-breaking.
Can't wait for book 6!

Set in 1847 Edinburgh, THE WAY OF ALL FLESH is a frightfully riveting novel revolving around Raven and Sarah, two women on the hunt for answers to the mysterious murders taking place. Told in such a vivid manner, I love how the story jumps from the page and maintains a fast pace that never seemed to disappoint me.
LOVED it and would recommend.

Pretty damn powerful
A story of so many emotions, I couldn't put it down! My heart broke a little for these amazing men, the trials they go through, the raw pain, love and passion.
Will and Mike fight for each other through the fallout of a military attack, memory loss and injury.
Definitely an adult read, with sex, bdsm, mental anguish/ptsd and descriptions of violent acts. Brilliantly told in a way that keeps you hooked.

I fell in love with Babs again when her story was reintroduced in DC's New 52 and she got a costume redesign. As much as I enjoyed Gail Simone's run, it was the collaboration of Cameron Stewart, Brenden Fletcher and Babs Tarr that pulled me back in. I became obsessed with the new costume and loved Babs Tarr's art style. I adored issues 35-52, but then there was another change with DC Rebirth and Batgirl left Burnside. I was not quite as invested in the first few issues (plus I didn't enjoy the art), but that was soon remedied with the introduction of Penguin's son.
The story arc contained in Volume 2: Son of Penguin felt more like the New 52 Batgirl I fell in love with, again. Although the plot was predictable at times, it will still enjoyable. Both Hope Larson's writing and the talents of the artists gave me hope that Batgirl's run will continue to improve. As she is my favourite female superhero (other than Wonder Woman, I truly couldn't choose) I cannot wait to see where this team takes her story.
I would definitely recommend her Batgirl of Burnside arc from the New 52 and her new story in Rebirth to fans of comics and interesting female characters. I may also be biased because in this iteration she is a grad school student who is currently studying to become a librarian, which is exactly what I am doing - so I feel like we are kindred spirits, or twins. Whatever.

It's Labor Day weekend and Henry needs new clothes for school. His mother, Adele, rarely leaves the house anymore, since the divorce from Henry's father. They go to the local store and pick out a few things. There they meet Frank, a recently escaped convict. Frank has them take him to their home and stays with them through the long weekend until he can move on.
Henry and Adele aren't really sure what to do, but they do their best not to be too afraid so they can make it through. When Frank turns out to be more than they bargained for, they are in for a lot of surprises. This is a story about love. Love lost, love shared and new love. What happens when love is lost or gone forever.
Joyce Maynard has put together quite a great book. Filled with different kinds of love without being a romance novel. This book teaches you that you can never judge a book by its cover and that the world is full of surprises.
Henry is your typical teenage boy going through all of the strange changes that happens to a boy at 13. His mother has been so shut off from the world since losing her father and a baby, that Henry often has to play the role of husband as well as son. When Frank enters their lives, it's an interesting change for them both. Adele seems to have come out of her depression and Henry has a relationship with a man, that he has been unable to get with his own father.
Together these three bake, dance, and try not to get caught during the long holiday weekend. This is a must read for anyone who is in love with love.

My Thoughts: This was a very compelling read for me. This is not just a story about one woman finding her healing from an abusive relationship but of three women finding out who they are and finding their true love.
I love the way the author combines the three lives of these women to form a story that the reader will be unable to put down.
There is a quote in the book that really stuck out to me "All we have in life are the choices we make. We must make choices we can live with - and die with if it comes to that". This is so true, life is made up of our choices, some may be good and others may not be so good. In the end, we have to live with our choices and the consequences of them. This is what Emily's father told her once and it was good advice. Emily is my favorite of the three women. She had a desire and she saw it through, she never gave up on her writing. She held to her convictions and had a love for others. She never let defeat get her down or to stop her from doing what she wanted to do.
I really enjoyed this novel, and I believe that other readers will enjoy it as much as I did; I think each reader will take something away with them from this novel. I hope to read more from this author.
