Ross (3284 KP) rated The Tick - Season 1 in TV

The whole series could probably have been boiled down to one feature rather than 12 half hour episodes but it doesn't feel drawn out or padded.
Peter Serafinowicz as the Tick is somewhat underused I would say, with the bulk of the focus being on Arthur, given his comedic abilities but I think that suited the story.

Following the Batman and Robin debacle the received wisdom at the time was that comic book movies shouldn't be all that comic booky and this certainly follows that principle. Ultra-purists may also object to the way Cyclops is sidelined as hero in favour of Wolverine (but that's what the fans wanted). But, on the whole, very solidly written and performed, decent effects, takes the characters and the story seriously. From such acorns do mighty franchises sprout...

Emma @ The Movies (1786 KP) rated Thor: Ragnarok (2017) in Movies

Thor has always felt like he had the comedy side in him and I love that he got his bromance moments with Hulk in this movie.
Highlight for me apart from those I mentioned above has to be the Led Zeppelin fuelled fight scenes. Low point was that there weren't more Valkyrie scenes, the trailers made it seem like a much bigger part of the movie.

David McK (3557 KP) rated Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover in Books

Maybe closely followed by the 70s TV series or 90s cartoon, and the more recent big-screen outings.
What I'm pretty sure is not commonly thought of, however, is a Spider-Man prose novel, which is exactly what this is, alongside being a prequel tie-in to the really-rather-enjoyable 2018 PS4 game.
That game - and, by extension - this novel, sees Peter Parker roughly already 7 or 8 years into his career as Spider-man, with the novel serving to set up the entry levels into the game in which (no spoilers) Spider-Man takes on Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin of Crime, and showing how he got to have his contact in the police force Yuri Wattanabe (sp?)
