The end of the book seemed to sum it all up: it appeared to me to be a self-realisation.
Worth a read, even though it can be quite hard-going at times.

It is an interesting show with an interesting plot. Too many viewers, and those involved with production, felt the need to blow the meaning of '13 reasons why' out of proportion.
It is not going to shine a light on those in your family that want to take their own life. I would also argue it is not going to influence someone to take their own life.
Not everybody is the same, I know. But I was engaged until the very end, and the urge I have had to end my life was no greater and no lesser after having watched the show.

Amy Louise (1 KP) rated Bird Box (2018) in Movies

When it started I was hopeful that actually this might just provide a pleasant surprise for me but by the end I was disappointed and left wanting more.
Let's face it, we've seen this film before in several different guises, 'The Mist' 'The Crazies' they all have one thing in common that makes me sigh every time, lack of depth. There's no imagination and explanation, in concept this could have been so much more but it remains a creature-less, face-less disappointment.
The whole premise relies on exploiting the viewers anxiety over the care of the children and the need to protect. I may be missing the point and I know this is a commentary on mental health but it's tenuous at best and I felt cheated by something that could have been so much more.

Abbie Devine (3 KP) rated Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) in Movies

I was apprehensive when I found out the new Black Mirror film was going to be interactive as I didn't want the plot to be overshadowed by the interactive feature. But I was wrong
The film is great. An original story archetype of time looping but with that classic Black Mirror edge.
If you are a tiny bit obsessive like me, you might want to set aside two hours or so to explore every choice and ending.
Without any spoilers, some endings can be rather satisfying, whilst others can be a bit hit or miss but quite often with the chance to retry from a certain point without necessarily changing the timeline.
So if you are looking for a new existential crisis, Bandersnatch is the one for you.
