[Dystopia] by [Janet McNulty] is a modern version of [1984] and example of when good intentions get caught up in greed and people are too lazy to care. The characters were very well developed as well as their relationships. The whole idea struck me as what people in the old Soviet Union must have felt like. (I am a history nerd.) I feel the message is that no matter what if people are apathetic they will lose what means the most to them and sometimes standing up for what is right can be really hard.

I loved it. Everyone else hated it.
A dark, modern, American twist on Alice's wonderland. This really disturbing, cringe inducing stuff coupled with bizarre charm is part of Gilliam's gift, and I would argue this stands up to his most famous work. Though this is definitely a little smaller in stature than Brazil, it has it's own elements of dystopia- albeit on a more personal level- and hits a little closer to raw emotion. Not for the faint of heart.

One of Hanks' Best
I don't know anyone who doesn't love this film. It's a modern day classic - funny, sad and ridiculously heartwarming. Forrest is one of the most loveable protagonists and is played brilliantly by Tom Hanks, but yet it also provides some of the best supporting characters in Bubba and Lieutenant Dan. I love that it ties in with historical events and It's one of the few films I could watch over and over again and not get bored of. They don't make films like this anymore.

First series is the best series by far
Without a doubt, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman transformed the face of Sherlock, completely updating it for modern viewing. Sherlock is played to be on some kind of spectrum, which allows him to work out calculations at lightning speed. He's arrogant but hilarious and Watson is an absolute spellbinder of a sidekick. The bromance is beautiful. But the first series by far is the most coherent without going into odd tangents and storylines. Really worth the watch.

An interesting continuation of the Wizard of Oz
As a Wizard of Oz adaptation I found this novel to be interesting as it focuses on issues such as greed, trust and power that are prevalent in modern society as underlying themes. Overall, I found the novel to be engaging through its twisted interpretation of what happens after Dorothy returns to Kansas. Despite this, it should be noted that there are parts of this work that drag a little due to a lack of action in chapters that are focused on character and plot development.

What a creative story, magic and candy making! This book is a dystopian type set in modern day. There are the people called sixth sensors that have special gifts that the king has captured or destroyed. Aini works in her father's candy shop. Her father is taken and Aini sets out to save him. Myles, Thane, and Neve are Aini's friends and they go with her to help her find her Dad. This book is a page turner! Highly recommended! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

What a perfect book for a young child. The age range of 8-12 is great for this book, boy or girl. Frankie Dupont is just like a young modern day Sherlock Holmes trying to solve the mystery at the science fair as to who stole the robot computer chip. The book is a simple but a fun engaging read. Even I was trying to figure out the clues and who-dun-it. I love how Frankie's mind works and how the book takes you through how he solved the mystery. A recommended read!

The 3rd installment of the series but a prequel with a period setting. Set in 19th century Canada it shows the origins of the curse. A nice idea and good that the same 2 actresses are used in all films. It reminded me a bit of the 4th Tremors film that also acted as a prequel. However the first film is much better with an edgy modern day setting. Ok as werewolf films go, the costumes for them are pretty cool, but overall the film was fairly average.

And it seems to be, he lived his life burning candles at both ends. Rocketman (2019) Review
The real genius of “Rocketman”, other than Elton John and Bernie Taupin themselves, is the wonderful narrative conceit of framing the story as a rehab confessional. It allows the makers or this musical fantasy to dive deep into the unreliable narration of a man who may be willing to air the dirty laundry of his past but still has a modern-day brand and reputation to protect...

The best edition of one of the best, must-own board games in the world.
Tigris & Euphrates is one of my favourite games of the last twenty years, and a true classic of the modern boardgame era. Looking at the BGG rankings again, I find it an affront that it is not in the top-20 like it once used to be. Its current edition is the best that has ever been published. This is a must-buy; that's just it.
