So im not sure why this movie happened, but it happened. This movies prequel is better than this. Thats how bad this movie is.
DescriptionFollowing the sudden death of her best friend, Debbie, Laine finds an antique Ouija board in Debbie's room and tries to use it to say goodbye. Instead, she makes contact with a spirit that calls itself DZ. As strange events begin to occur, Laine enlists others to help her determine DZ's identity and what it wants. As the friends delve deeper, they find that Debbie's mysterious death was not unique, and that they will suffer the same fate unless they learn how to close the portal they've opened.
So this movie makes no sense at all. Also micheal bay produced this movie so thats why its bad.
Dont bother watching this film, i would reccomend the prequel.

Emma @ The Movies (1786 KP) rated Red Sparrow (2018) in Movies

Ballerina Dominika Egorova is recruited to 'Sparrow School,' a Russian intelligence service where she is forced to use her body as a weapon. Her first mission, targeting a C.I.A. agent, threatens to unravel the security of both nations.
It surprises me a little bit that this film is only rated 15. There's violence, sex, torture, nudity... so many things that make this one classic fodder for an 18 rating.
Red Sparrow was a good spy flick, gripping throughout but a little bit predictable at times. The more I think about this one the more I'm tempted to give it only two stars. While I found the story line interesting, there isn't much that made me enthusiastic.
People ask me what I've seen recently and this is the only one I can never remember. I don't think it's going to be one of this year's must see movies.

Emma @ The Movies (1786 KP) rated Midnight Sun (2018) in Movies

A 17-year-old girl suffers from a condition that prevents her from being out in the sunlight.
I was left a wreck after watching this. It's totally unbelievable and sickly sweet, but who care about that? As with everything, I would guess that some creative license was taken with XP and how it affects those that have it. But I'd also imagine that the emotions expressed in the film are nearer the mark.
The first half of the movie passed by as another teen romance with a twist, but it wasn't until the sunrise scene that I really felt this movie.
Up until that point in the movie it was funny and uplifting. It's a wonderful romance, even though as I mentioned, completely far fetched. But that's why we go to these sorts of movies isn't it? Why would we want the every day?

'Hello. My name is Inigo Montaya. You killed my father. Prepare to die'
'Inconceivable!'
'Why do you keep saying that word. I do not think it means what you think it means'
'You fell prey to one of the great mistakes. There are two: one is never get involved in a land war in Asia ...' (I'm paraphrasing the intro there)
'Rodents of unusual size? I don't think they exist' (cue getting attacked by just that ...)
One of those perfectly cast movies, framed as been told by an elderly grandfather to his sick grandson, this is a 1980s classic and - quite obviously, in retrospect - almost perfectly provided the template for Antonio Bandera's Zorro (or Puss in Boots) in the character of Inigo Montaya, as portrayed here by Mandy Patinkin (who also, trivia fans, has the film's sole swear word: 'I want my father back, you son of a ...')

Erika (17789 KP) rated Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) in Movies

One of the main draws for me to see this movie was that Nolan's @Tenet (2020) teaser trailer was attached. The other was that I haven't seen any movies and wanted to recoup my $20 for my AMC A-List.
This was a standard big, dumb, fun(ish) action film. The stunts were interesting to watch, though unbelievable. In fact, most of them were very similar to M:I6 Fallout's stunts. Hell, this film also had Vanessa Kirby in it.
The story line was predictable, and only slightly amusing. Ryan Reynolds appeared like a wild unicorn and did his Ryan Reynolds thing. Kevin Hart also appeared, and again, was slightly humorous. It was overly long, they should have cut at least half an hour out. The last part was a big ol' ode to the Rock (I will NEVER cease calling him the Rock).

Bostonian916 (449 KP) rated Street Kings (2008) in Movies
Aug 6, 2020
There's nothing new about shady cops and the behavior that they are guilty of. But Street Kings weaves a pretty original story line surrounding a veteran LAPD officer named Tom Ludlow (the awesome Keanu Reeves) who finds out that there is more than even what meets his eye.
After witnessing the death of a rival officers assassination, Ludlow begins an investigation of his own, while also being investigated for his direct presence and potential involvement in the crime. The trail that he consequently follows leads him down a rabbit hole that he doesn't want to follow but realizes that he has no choice but to do so.
All star cast including Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans, Forest Whitaker, Terry Crews, Cedric the Entertainer and more. Quite an impressive collection.
Definitely worth seeing if you like movies in the vein of Training Day and End of Watch.

Bostonian916 (449 KP) rated All the President's Men (1976) in Movies
Aug 30, 2020 (Updated Aug 30, 2020)
I'm always interested in historical movies, which is what drew me to this film in the first place. In addition to the fact that it stars Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman in arguably some of the best performance for either.
All the President's Men has been listed as one of the most historically accurate films ever made. It explains, from the young reporters point of view, the discovery of exactly what took place at the Watergate that caused the downfall of a president.
While the movie was sometimes slow, as it was data filled, I never found myself bored or wishing it would get along. Everything that happened during the slow periods were very relevant and needed in order to tell the story.
A wonderful representation of what historical drama should and can be, I highly recommend anyone with even a slight interest in American history to give this a watch.
