Mrs. Pollifax and her husband Cyrus are hours away from a vacation to Thailand when Bishop shows up asking if they could possibly make one small detour for the CIA. Of course, things go wildly wrong when Cyrus is kidnapped and Mrs. Pollifax has to hunt for him with a man she doesn't trust. The plot to this one is a little different. The scenes with Bishop and Carstairs drive it more than Mrs. Pollifax's action does. As a result, it's not as good as the classic books in the series, but it's still fun.

Carstairs has doubts about the agent they are sending to Morocco to verify a network of spies, so he sends Mrs. Pollifax along to help smooth things over. But when the first spy is killed an hour after they identify him, Mrs. Pollifax realizes she's in deep trouble.
While the last couple of books in the series aren't quite up to bar, this is a return to form in most ways. Mrs. Pollifax is a resourceful and charming as ever, and the plot is as fun and fast paced as it is improbable. A perfect escape.

I laughed so hard I nearly.....
I was looking for something funny, something different. Mrs Maisel tickled that spot. I laughed outloud so hard I woke my bairns up.
It's a nice story, it has drama, it has jokes, it has loveable characters. Most of all, you are routing for Mrs Maisel, who you can't help but want to see succeed. You envy her ability to say what you are thinking, you wish you were more like Mrs Maisel. Wouldn't life be an adventure then.

When Mrs. Pollifax’s friend Kadi gets a cry for help from their mutual friend Sammat in Ubangiba, the duo head out to find out what is happening. They arrive to find that his fledgling government is in danger thanks to a series of lion killings. The problem? There are no lions in this part of Africa, and the rumors are flying that Sammat is really behind the attacks. What is happening?
Unfortunately, the book is slow for much of the story with Mrs. Pollifax wandering around and things being introduced that have little bearing on the action. Things definitely improve in the final third of the book as Mrs. Pollifax begins to really investigate. Mrs. Pollifax leads a group of charming characters, and it is always pleasant to spend time with them.

There are so many great life lessons here and Mrs. Saint with her wisdom and guidance teaches most of them. Family isn’t always about being blood related and sometimes bonds can be formed quickly and when you least expect it.
