Nicole Fall (34 KP) rated The Trouble with Beasts (Howl for the Damned, #1) in Books

This is the first book I have read by author D. Fischer and it certainly will not be my last! I was pleasantly surprised at how easily and quickly her writing style, character build-up and story-line foundation hooked me in. I actually got myself into trouble with the Mrs. the first day I started reading this book because I lost track of time and forgot to get anything out for dinner, let alone do any of the laundry we had piled up

As you all know, I'm huge fan of Wanda Brunstetter. Not one of her books left me disappointed. So, to say I was excited about the start of this new series , is quite the understatement. The more I saw about it on Mrs. Brunstetter's pages, the more anxious for the release I became. Then when the book arrived, I couldn't wait to dive into it. And then......well, then I was in awe of Mrs. Brunstetter. Why? Because she has once again managed to take me to the heart of Amish country, to the world I wish I belonged in, and filled my heart with healing and hope.
I loved the characters within the book. They were all chiseled perfectly for their rolls. I loved watching Michelle grown in her relationships, especially her convictions with God after she found the jar. The messages she received, the feelings she felt, all of them quickly spoke to me and became my own feelings.
This book is beautifully written and will have the reader pulled to the center of the story instantly. From start to finish, I smiled, I laughed, I wondered what God would do in Michelle's life. The messages that Mrs. Brunstetter always manages to weave within the story speak loudly to the soul. I love that in Amish novels. So, if you are looking for a wonderful book to transport you to the heart of Amish country, then grab this book now. You'll be instantly addicted to the beautiful works of Wanda Brunstetter, if you aren't already. This 5 star book is definitely a keeper for me, and I can't wait to start my own hope jar!

Holy cow! This book was fantastic! I have been a forever fan of Mrs. Connealy's since I read Petticoat Ranch. She is absolutely one of the best Christian Western Romance writers out there and I will forever sing her praises. When I saw she had another series releasing, I was all for jumping on that band wagon (no pun intended!)! Sitting down to read this, I had it read it less than two days, it was just that captivating.
Opening the pages to Deborah's story, watching her try to protect her sister and the young ones was amazing. I could feel myself becoming Deborah, telling her younger sister just what to do to keep them safe. When Ms. Connealy enters Trace into the picture.....well, whew! Not only was I instantly pulled to him, his protective side in a man like him, really made me swoon through out the book! I loved that! Seeing him with Deborah, his caring way toward her, was undeniably God-filled and romantic.
Mrs. Connealy has created yet another keeper for my shelf! She has taken a story of intriguing suspense, wrapped it up with her trade mark swoon-worthy cowboys and sassy heroines, and dished her readers an unforgettable laugh out loud, love story. This book is perfect for that rainy day, or long drive for a summer trip. Don't wait to get this one. Go grab it up now! It's 5 star worthy and so much more! Well done, Mrs. Connealy! Well done!!! I am highly anticipating the release of book 2, The Reluctant Warrior.

Jeannine Geise (0 KP) rated The Marvelous Mrs Maisel in TV
Jun 1, 2018
Okay...now I’m angry!!
I just started binge watching this show tonight and I couldn’t stop!! Now, it’s 2:30 in the morning and I’m sad and grumpy it’s over...mostly because I just know my kids will wake my butt up early tomorrow. But let’s be honest, it was worth it for my crazy Mrs. Maisel!!
I came because Gilmore Girls is right up there with my favorite shows of all time. I love Gilmore Girls for the wittiness, pop references, and girl power and Mrs. Maisel definitely delivered in many of the same ways. The characters are well-developed and sympathetic—I even felt for her “evil” husband. The only criticisms I had were that it bugged me that as a mom, she basically never took care of her own children, but I get that the show wasn’t really about that at all.
I highly recommend this series. Hilarious and charming. I can’t wait for more episodes! Just watch it!
Then, once you’re done with that, find Bunheads (same writers) and watch that. Then, come see me and we’ll bitch about how that show deserved more episodes, too!!

Deborah (162 KP) rated For You Alone (Frederick Wentworth, Captain, #2) in Books
Dec 19, 2018
I really enjoyed the first book, None But You, and really wanted to like this one as much..... just looking down at some of the other reviews, it seems I'm not alone in not caring much for the ending.
In fact, the whole wrapping up of the story seems to drag on for longer than needs be, in my opinion, and the ending didn't seem to me realistic. Considering [i:]Persuasion[/i:] is Austen's most romantic novel, the chosen ending was decidely unromantic in many ways!
There are also a few things that don't seem to be satisfactorily concluded; I expected to hear more of the future planned for George Tuggins for one. Also I expected to hear of Mr Elliot running off with Mrs Clay and the Wentworths having something to say about that! I wasn't clear about Mr Elliot being seen earlier visiting Westgate Buildings, as in [i:]Persuasion[/i:] Mrs Smith indicates she hasn't seen him in sometime.
Overall, I liked it better than a lost of Austen sequels out there, but it could have been concluded more satisfactorily to my mind.
