Sue (5 KP) rated Vlad-Handing (Silver Hills Cozy Mysteries, #5) in Books

Flo and Agnes are two ladies that you would love to call your friends. They are laugh out loud funny adding comedy to a terrific cozy mystery that will have you in stitches until the end. I highly suggest starting out with book 1 Dose Vidanya and reading the books in order. While these books can be read stand alone, the cast of characters build as each book in the series continues.

Sue (5 KP) rated I Know What You Bid Last Summer (Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery #5) in Books
Aug 13, 2018
Sarah becomes an amateur detective and compiles a list of murder suspects that all seem to be other members of the school board. With her quick wit and sleuthing talents, Sarah must find the killer before the killer makes her another item for the dumpster.
This book is more than a charming cozy mystery; the author gives you inside tips into the world of garage sale selling and buying. The mystery, suspense, and moments of comedy keep you interested, while you try to guess who the culprit is.

Temperance aims to give the girl an identity, and figure out just who is to blame for cutting her life short. All the while Tempe is dealing with her own issues, the lack of contact from her on/off lover Andy, her unconventional relationships with her ex -husband, her flaky sister and her daughter.
Reichs always writes very well, including using the correct terminology, allowing readers to get a grasp of how the characters are really feeling, and keeping you on the edge of the mystery with little tiny bites of the truth, dotted with the odd red herring.

I was really intrigued by Chris/Kit and J.X.'s history together. Why were they so hostile to each other? It was slowly explained throughout and I kind of melted reading about their three nights together all those years ago and the feelings involved. Awww...
There was one scene fairly early on between them that made me all warm and fuzzy, until it was over and then I wanted to smack someone--mainly J.X.
As for the murder mystery, I would never have figured it out. I knew it was a man, and not Chris/Kit so was left with three possibilities. I didn't want to think it was J.X. either so that left two but then I was completely stumped.
I'm now going onto book 2 so I can read more of these two!
