Third entry in the so-called Knives Out series of murder mysteries, this time relocating to a quiet country church and following Benoit Blanc - who doesn't appear until a good 30 minutes or so into the movie - and priest Reverend Jud Duplenticy, who most of the hard-core followers of the flock of fire and brimstone preacher Monsignor Jefferson Wick believe to be responsible for said Monsignor's death, in another locked room mystery.

The film really belongs to Josh O'Connor as the ex-boxer and now priest Duplenticy, ably supported by Daniel Craig's southerner (and atheist) Benoit Blanc. The denouement is maybe dragged out a bit too long, and it does take a while to get going, but at least this shows that faith and logic can coexist.

Stan’s mother is engaged to Frog Ledge’s new mayor, and the pair are throwing a big engagement party. However, the groom to be isn’t there. Instead, Stan is running into several people she is less than happy to see again from her days in the corporate world, including her ex-boyfriend. The night gets worse when a body is found upstairs. The police quickly make an arrest, but something seems off. Are they trying to cover something up?

Since the last book took place out of town, it was wonderful to be back in Frog Ledge and spending time with our favorite characters. The author has really built a sense of community, and I love how she is growing Stan, the others characters, and their relationships. The downside of that is the murder moves slowly in the beginning as the sub-plots that help with the community building are front and center. But the mystery takes center stage in the second half, offering us several viable suspects and some great twists and surprises.

This twisting, turning thriller follows twin sisters, Bel and Rose who attend a prestigious high school after they are taken in by their grandma after the deaths of their father and mother. Bel is the "bad girl" who makes choices that are not the best, however, it is Rose who suffers the consequences of Bel's decisions, which ultimately causes the death of one sister.
Along with the twins, there are numerous characters who seem to think they are above everyone else, who have narcissistic personality traits, and who want only what is best for them.
Then you have Sara who is a loving, doting mother, wife and student advisee who is caught up in the middle of the murder mystery thrill ride.
You also have the Detective and Police woman who are investigating the murder of one of the twins which adds a great layer to the book through their interrogations and investigative questioning of many of the characters in this book.
It is a multi-layered, well written novel you will be thrown into and will have you guessing at times what will happen next and what did happen. It is a perfect blend of narcissism within characters, a blend of trying to decide who did what, and what will happen in the end.
